Pacquiao’s move not to wear Holy Rosary reason for loss, say boxing fans
    By Romulo O. Ponte
Southern Luzon Bureau 4:12 pm | Sunday, December 9th, 2012

SAN PABLO CITY, Laguna, Philippines – Manny Pacquiao lost in the fight because he ditched his Holy Rosary and his religion, according to an avid fan.

“Yong usual nyang ginagawa before magstart ang laban palaging syng nag-sign of the Cross marahil bilang gabay subalit, simula ng magpalit si Pacquiao ng religion tila nabago ang kapalaran nya sa paglaban (He used to make the sign of the cross before the start of every fight as his guide but Pacquiao’s fortunes in his fights had changed since he switched religions),” said Manuel Crisostomo, a publisher of a community newspaper in San Pablo City. (Pacquiao, baptized a Catholic, has been drawn to Christian groups lately, which focus on the study of the Bible and have little teaching on Mary, the mother of Jesus).

Rodelyn Yu, also an avid fan of Manny, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that God must be giving Pacman a trial for abandoning his former religion. He was unlike Marquez who was consistently dedicated to his Holy Rosary and Catholicism.

Crisostomo said Pacquiao should resign from boxing now and concentrate on his political and showbiz careers.

“It had been better that he heeded earlier suggestions from many Filipino fans that he quit from boxing when he got the legendary record of being the first and only eight-division Champion in the world,” the media man said.

“Manny is already an accomplished man in boxing arena several years ago. And as any sports or undertaking, time really comes when you really have to end,” Crisostomo said.

If you look at the replay closely, Pacman steps on JMM's foot. He got tripped off and Boom!

If Pacquiao still has it, he better look for life's lessons in boxing. I suggest he turned to Roberto Duran, yes, the "hands of stone".

His career was able to proceed after a devastating knockout loss in the hands of Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns. He was able to win another championship years later.

But then again, Duran remained focused solely on his boxing career. He was not a congressman, a TV personality, etc.

Life's lesson? An elite boxing career only spans for a few years. The older you get, the more trying it is. Probably a bit more dedication to your craft --the science, the hardwork, the preparation, the mindset, etc.

    ------------

On the other side of the fence, more people are amazed at the feat of Marquez.

In their previous fights, his punches were able to connect Pacquiao but it seems Pacman was able to take it.

The latest fight saw him decking Pacman with just one throw. Not once but twice. He was able to do it a year short of his 40th birthday. Where did he get the power?

that again? That's normal in a southpaw vs. orthodox stance fight. That's also the reason why Pacquiao has to side step when he lunges to avoid that. Too bad his gilgil got the best of him unlike Marquez who sticked to the game plan and won methodically even if he had the upper hand.

He got that "power" by adding his punch's strength to Pacquiao's forward momentum. Sort of a head on collision. That's why counterpunchers shouldn't be underestimated.

The KO was given. But with the 1st knockdown, I was surprised how Manny fell off the canvass. He could be wobbly a little bit and just shrug it off knowing his toughness and durability in taking hard shot.
