By the way, some Tsikoters here reported to have achieve 190 kph on 4JG2 engine Trooper (1992-1999 model series) at Star Tollway in Batangas. The manufacturer's maximum speed rating for this vehicle is 200 kph. This means that they were able to reach 95% speed rating accuracy. If Isuzu was able to maintain the same level of speed rating accuracy, it is plausible to predict that Alterra can achieve 209 kph. This is achievable considering the shape of this vehicle. Ironically, the very shape of this vehicle abhored by some Tsikoters is actually what makes it achieve this speed in conjunction with its engine which is 21% more powerful that 4JG2. Consider this, this vehicle has low center of gravity compared to the Trooper and Fortuner, and other SUVs. The design of its exterior indicates it has lower drag coeffficient compare with other SUVs. Hence, it is likely that it can achieve at least 95% of the manufacturer' s indicated top speed.

Consider the following at zero headwind...
100kph (55 knots) - take-off speed of a Cessna 150
250 to 290 kph (130 to 155 knots) - take-off speed range for large jetliners
I can just see some guy achieving take-off velocity with his SUV and flying off the NLEX, in an attempt to reach max speed.Last edited by vicoyski; September 11th, 2005 at 02:59 PM.

given naman siguro that the alterra will perform well, after all Isuzu yan at the D-Max is proof na ok yan.
but they never really researched on the exterior design, I mean the old Hilux Surf 4x4 looks better, coming from the Hilux pickup. even yun new nissan frontier to pathfinder/xterra ba yun, ganda naman ang conversion.
