$649.00 from Amazon US. And maybe around 2K PHP to have it shipped here.

In all honesty, the Pro is still serving me quite well considering its age, but multitasking on it isn't the most optimal, with some apps freezing from time to time. It's also not as portable as before since moving it to different surfaces would sometimes cause it to restart all of a sudden, the cause of which I've never bothered to check anymore. All that, plus the declining battery life. A lot of its internals have also been already tampered with -- changed the flex cables at least thrice (common problem for this generation), upgraded from HDD to SSD, and upgraded one of the RAMs to 8GB (used to be one 4GB RAM in each of the two slots, but one of the RAM slots is already broken).

I know the upgraded Macbook Pro 14 and 16 are just around the corner but they're out of my budget and ETA to the Philippines would probably be around January 2022. Did some future proofing with the new Air as well by upgrading its memory to 16GB instead of the standard 8GB since, sadly, gone are the days when Macbook internals weren't soldered into place and were still capable of being upgraded DIY.

Now... seriously planning to buy an iPad but not sure if I should just get the newly released base iPad 9th gen or the 2020 iPad Air 4th gen. If budget wasn't a problem, I'd get the Air in a heartbeat, since this model is the first generation to use a new chassis that follows the new iPad design language and and it uses a slightly faster A14 chip. The base iPad, on the other hand, offers such good value for money with its still very competent A13 chip and a new 12mp front camera with centerstage. The only turn off, to be honest, is the old chassis which follows practically the same design language as the very first iPads, albeit with slimmer bezels. Now, the question is, do you think the upgrade to the iPad Air is worth the 13k price difference?

Use case would be regular video conferencing, sidecar for Mac, reading and annotating books and documents, note taking, and video streaming.

If you think I already know the answer to my question, then you're probably right. It's just that want a more rational, unbiased mind to influence me
Yes it’s worth it. Had an 8th gen iPad, then bought a Pro (was supposed to resell it). But the Pro was so good - better screen/writing, better speakers, better camera, better accessories (Apple Pen and smart keyboard), faster response - that I just sold the 8th gen iPad instead.

The Air is pretty similar to the Pro at a much cheaper price, and it’s worth the price jump vs the base iPad.

    Buti mura lang taxes mo.

I bought 12k worth of F1 merch, customs charged me 5k worth of taxes. So yung natipid ko by buying directly from the site with a discount and free shipping, lugi pa because of the customs fee.

Though i probably prefer the all new Mini form factor more as i can use it one handed. Hence am thinking of getting a Mini (not the car hehe).

This one is kinda fatiguing to use when lying down and consuming content. I dont create much content nowadays hehehe.

Thanks for the reco! The Air internals are still pretty powerful with the second to the latest non M1 chip, so I'm pretty certain it would still do the job really well. Since you have the magic keyboard, do you feel sometimes use it completely as a laptop replacement or is it always just complementary to the laptop?

Congrats on the LC300, by the way. Read in the LC300 thread nga about your little gift to your agent, for sure the deal made both of you very happy indeed.

Not really keen on getting the mini (iPad, can't afford the other mini just yet) though since I'll be doing a lot of writing with the pencil and the mini's screen feels too cramped for that purpose.

That's exactly why I'm leaning towards the Air. I don't feel like I could justify the Pro considering my main device is already an M1 Macbook and I'm not a power user who could maximize its features. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want one, though, if money were no object. The Air feels nearer to the Pro than to the regular iPad, both in terms of looks and performance, mainly since it uses the same body as the Pro 2018 if I'm not mistaken.

So bale, sige na nga! Sana dumating na yung stocks ng space gray sa Power Mac... When I called diff branches this week, all they had were either rose gold or green.

Oh when i go to the office I bring the ipad air with the magic keyboard. Lasts the whole day and I can use any usb-c charger to top it up.

Its good enough for what I do. Email. Teams meetings. Browsing. Presenting some powerpoint here and there (which i get from the cloud).

I do NOT create content anymore ..mostly consume or present. So not sure how it fairs in the content creation side of things.

Its very snappy. I dont feel that i need more horsepower.

There's a shipping option where all taxes will be paid by the courier. Sulit for high value, low weight item as they charges by weight.
