October 2nd, 2021 02:27 AM #175Finally bit the bullet and bought a Macbook Air M1 to replace my 2013 Macbook Pro non-retina. In all honesty, the Pro is still serving me quite well considering its age, but multitasking on it isn't the most optimal, with some apps freezing from time to time. It's also not as portable as before since moving it to different surfaces would sometimes cause it to restart all of a sudden, the cause of which I've never bothered to check anymore. All that, plus the declining battery life. A lot of its internals have also been already tampered with -- changed the flex cables at least thrice (common problem for this generation), upgraded from HDD to SSD, and upgraded one of the RAMs to 8GB (used to be one 4GB RAM in each of the two slots, but one of the RAM slots is already broken).
I know the upgraded Macbook Pro 14 and 16 are just around the corner but they're out of my budget and ETA to the Philippines would probably be around January 2022. Did some future proofing with the new Air as well by upgrading its memory to 16GB instead of the standard 8GB since, sadly, gone are the days when Macbook internals weren't soldered into place and were still capable of being upgraded DIY.
Now... seriously planning to buy an iPad but not sure if I should just get the newly released base iPad 9th gen or the 2020 iPad Air 4th gen. If budget wasn't a problem, I'd get the Air in a heartbeat, since this model is the first generation to use a new chassis that follows the new iPad design language and and it uses a slightly faster A14 chip. The base iPad, on the other hand, offers such good value for money with its still very competent A13 chip and a new 12mp front camera with centerstage. The only turn off, to be honest, is the old chassis which follows practically the same design language as the very first iPads, albeit with slimmer bezels. Now, the question is, do you think the upgrade to the iPad Air is worth the 13k price difference?
Use case would be regular video conferencing, sidecar for Mac, reading and annotating books and documents, note taking, and video streaming.
If you think I already know the answer to my question, then you're probably right. It's just that want a more rational, unbiased mind to influence me

Apple Music announces Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio - Apple
They released it June 2021. Although I'm not on Apple music because I don't have the gear or maybe the ear to take advantage of the lossless audio.Last edited by BratPAQ; October 2nd, 2021 at 06:36 AM.

October 2nd, 2021 10:38 AM #179I have no regrets with my Ipad Air (the one they launched last year). I use it all the time for Teams and zoom mtgs. In fact, i bought one for my Toyota Agent ! She was super happy!
Though i probably prefer the all new Mini form factor more as i can use it one handed. Hence am thinking of getting a Mini (not the car hehe).
This one is kinda fatiguing to use when lying down and consuming content. I dont create much content nowadays hehehe.
