Pwede na kaya to for student? Ano kaya mas ok sa dalawa? Ano mas ok in terms of CPU? Mas gusto ko sana yung intel because it's 512gb ssd so I can expand a 1TB hdd. Yung isa naman may ssd na kaso 128gb lang.
How about graphics? Gumagamit kasi daughter ng shotcut pang edit ng video na isesend sa teacher. So I think hindi naman heavy editing yun. Yung kasing current laptop nya eh low specs at walang video card sa hindi kaya video editing.

Video card isn't as critical as a strong CPU + RAM for video editing/encoding. Even IGP is sufficient for GPU help on encoding.
I'm a firm believer that laptops should be as light and portable as possible especially for students or anyone who's always mobile. So I'm a big ultrabook fan.
Best to have a strong quad-core processor + 16GB RAM for video editing work.

Bratpaq,
Ryzen 7 is more than enough for students..try the ryzen 5 4500 at P27thou before
Intel uses 14nm processor so it will run hotter than an AMD processor..additionally, it will drain the battery faster than the 7nm of AMD

UserBenchmark: AMD Ryzen 7 47 U vs Intel Core i5-1 35G1
^looks like the Ryzen is better than the i5 (as expected)
not sure if the Slim 3 has upgradeable RAM, also not sure why the Ideapad 3 decided to use 2 4GB RAM modules. -> I'm only using MS Office and ramdam ko yung advantage ng 16GB RAM
SSD is always better than HDD -> big plus for the Ideapad 3
As for video editing, are you planning to use Premier? I think both can easily handle Filmora and Resolve

When I was in college I had an old Lenovo Core 2 Duo laptop that I had since high school while everyone else had i5 Macbook Pros and Macbook Airs. By the time I was in 4th year hirap na magedit videos on my laptop (tagal magexport) vs the Macbooks of my peers.
Paid it forward nalang by gifting my sister a Macbook Pro when she went to college.
