July 31st, 2018 11:23 AM #375the first line is all about blowby, po.
as a result of engine wear and tear, there's too much space between the cylinder wall and the piston, resulting in burnt gases leaking thru (blowby), resulting in poor engine performance.
also, oil manages to get into the combustion chamber and gets burned along with the fuel. this results in excessive oil consumption and black tailpipe smoke.Last edited by dr. d; July 31st, 2018 at 11:28 AM.

I checked this morning and the odometer is at 199,854 miles (321,634 km). I never had a car last this far before. The closest one was my turbo Diamond Star coupe. It reached 167k miles. But, it's engine was also dead.
The Sonata is doing very well, considering I'm much more abusive to it than the older coupe.
