April 17th, 2018 09:52 AM #965Had my Vitara's 5K PMS yesterday. Went to Suzuki Sta. Rosa, cost me 2,100 pesos for the change oil (oil + filter) and the supplies.
The service was much better there than at Alabang. I was originally scheduled for 10am, but I ran late and sent a message to move me to an 11am schedule. No problem with them. I arrived around 11:20, they accommodated still, receiving me and doing the checklist before lunch break. Actual work was moved to 1pm following lunch break.
PMS took a couple of hours. Oil change was done within an hour; the additional wait was due to the line of vehicles getting washed before release (something which I should've opted out of). It helped that I came in on a weekday, but this was still fast given my experience with my previous car. For comparison, oil change took the entire day at Alabang. The service center at Sta. Rosa is Suzuki-only; Alabang's service center is shared with Mitsubushi Alabang's, probably explaining why you have to wait longer there.
I ended up at Sta. Rosa after asking a few other dealers for a cost estimate. Binan's estimate was a little cheaper, but I chose Sta. Rosa because Nuvali was nearby (allowing me to have lunch there; I don't think there are options around Suzuki Binan). I also asked at Manila Bay because I was supposed to run another errand in the MOA area, but they were trying to charge me an extra 800 for engine treatment. I asked to have it removed; they told me it would depend of mileage. Engine treatment isn't needed more so since the 5K PMS is supposed to be just light service.
Sta. Rosa initially put in a 200 charge for wiper washer fluid but asked me about it. I told them I had a bottle in the trunk and they quickly removed the charge.

Suzuki Sta. Rosa had a GL variant on display yesterday and took a look while I had my Vitara's PMS. There are significant differences, see below:
Good things of note:
- Still dual airbags (GL+ has dual airbags)
- Steering wheel still has controls for volume/mute/headunit mode
- Same Continental wheels as higher variants
- Same headunit as GL+
Things removed/downgraded:
- No cruise control/speed limiter
- No paddle shifters
- No automatic climate control (manual aircon for GL)
- No push start system
- No smart entry (no lock/unlock using button on door panel as long as you have key fob on you)
- No front fog lamps
- No backing sensors
- Cheaper wheel rims (steel)
- Different front fascia
- And... no analog clock on the dash!
---
One thing I noticed on the display unit was that the doors closed better than with my Vitara.
On the other things, there's a rear wiper, rear defogger, and the rear wheels have disc brakes. I didn't see whether the trunk has a 12V socket.

The Vitara 1.6 6AT does 0-100 in ~11.6 seconds:

That's comparable to a Mobilio, or even a 2.8L Fortuner and 3.2L Everest.
Very long 3rd gear though so it would feel slow as compared to a CVT which is always at the peak powerband (hence the droning sound).
