wala sila binatbat kay caguioa the kobe and jordan of philippines, he changed culture of philippines basketball ito ang pinakasikat na player nakita ko. the most impact and heart of filipino basketball which backed up by his huge accomplishments in court whether pba or international. remember lebanon bilib na bilib noon kay caguioa pati iran natakot dito kasi nakompara siya kay fadi el khatib kinatatakotan talaga sa international si caguioa noon.

Yung mga matatanda siguro.. like Gary David and Marlou Aquino (naglaro pa sya nito), but yung nasa past their primes na, more on magtuturo na lang sila sa young ones.
Other former PBA players thrive here (more on the supporting cast sila while in the PBA) like Val Acuña, Chito Jaime, and others, to name a few. Even yung former collegiate players after they all used their eligibility in playing for their collegiate teams plays here (instead of playing in the PBA D-League) like Tey Teodoro (of JRU), Ron Dennison (of FEU) and others.
But, this is a grassroots basketball league. Yung mga players na magagaling from unknown places have the chance to start here and might level up sa PBA if maganda ang performance nila sa MPBL.

I'm probably naive or cynical but I don't trust grassroots leagues natin.

Somehow I agree, you need to be really good para magka-offer to play in college as a sports scholar. Masuwerte ka if big name NCCC or UAAP team mapuntahan mo at may exra money sila to ensure you have a decent college life if mahirap ka talaga.
Connections are very important as well.
Kaya from the provinces, yung talagang exceptional lang may pag-asa. Dami kasi magaling MM at mas maganda pa training.

Well, just like what happened sa Liga Pilipinas and Countrywide Basketball League (and other grassroots basketball league), nagfold sila after a few years dahil siguro sa lack of exposure. Lack of exposure - no interest sa mga target nila and sa advertisers/backers. I really hope this time around yung MPBL will last longer than these 2 folded leagues, and the MBA. The problem now is, mag-eexpand pa itong MPBL, and discover more talents, yet, only a few might get into the PBA. So I think it's time na din sa PBA to expand a bit as well, and tweak its season format (maybe switch into a 2 conference format again)
Yung PBA D-League naman, mostly mga Collegiate players ang naglalaro if yung collegiate season nila is on a break.

Come to think of it parang mas maraming magaling sa probinsya kasi pure talent, God-given talent.
These players last longer. Arwind Santos comes to mind, di sya fundamentally sound, mas mahirap bantayan kasi di alam kung ano nasa utak.

Basta ako I believed if one is really talented, kahit anong mangyari mapupunta ng PBA yan. Pag hinde it means hinde talaga uubra sa PRO league.
