sir *akosidab, may be, just may be "placebo" effect? ako naman, i tried phoenix 98 like for a month and notice na mas magaan nga tapak ko sa silinyador at nag-aaccelerate na pero mas naiingayan ako. since yung unit ko is a 3-cylinder engine, prone sa engine knock so i decided to gas up ng mas mataas na RON ng fuel. tried Shell V-Power, Phoenix 98, Seaoil's 97 Extreme and Caltex Platinum (95 RON) at so far sa Caltex ako satisfied kasi mas tahimik sya at ok manakbo ang oto ko. Some member of Mirage Pilipinas use Petron's 100 RON octane rating para mawala ang engine pinging/knock.

Not anymore. They've downgraded it to 91.

Or you can also let someone else fill up your car's tank, but they won't let you know what brand or octane they used. Let's see if you can really notice an improvement in a blind test.

If you would notice all the ads of all the oil companies, it never says directly that there's more power if you use higher octane fuel (unless your car demands it in the owner's manual). Almost always, the claim is just that premium fuel leads to a cleaner burn, which is true because it has more detergent additives.

Unless you've got a powerful engine needing at least 95 or 97 RON, or you've got an old carbureted engine, you don't need to go higher than your manual's minimum octane requirement.

I just feel na mas smooth ung acceleration kaya ko siguro nasabi na mas mabilis mag accelerate pero no scientific or metrics used.

So aside from cleaner burn, ano pang advantages meron sa higher octane fuel? Or do i need to stick sa unleaded as suggested in the manual?

Same with my experience using caltex platinum na mas konti ang engine knock sa vios ko.

I have tried shell, phoenix, petron but so far mas nagustuhan ko performance ng emgine sa caltex, though as what i have said no scientific or metrics akong ginamit.

Very likely to be placebo effect, unless you have data to say otherwise.

Cleaner burn lang talaga and lower chance of engine knocking.
