August 31st, 2016 02:59 AM #201I don't own a Mazda 6, just an old TOTL Mazda 3 and a lot of people back then were discouraging me from getting it because of the resale value. I didn't care about the resale value because buying a car is not an investment anyway. In the event that I want to change cars, I probably have already saved enough to purchase a new one. I still went ahead and got the Mazda 3. Knowing how much more people are getting into Mazda these days, I won't be suprised if in the future, they willl have better resale value. As long as you're happy with the car, buy it. If only I have the funds now to buy a Mazda 6 I would!

You buy a car because you want to drive it, not sell it a few years later. The Mazda6 is a keeper car, as with most midsize cars (Accord, Altima, Camry). People buy them for the reason that they would enjoy driving or riding it. If you're so worried about resale value, get yourself a subcompact or an MPV.
I had an Accord before and it was sold really low. However, it's a way better car than any subcompact or compact of its era. I told myself my next purchase would be a midsize car (either a Passat, Mazda6, or Accord).

September 10th, 2016 12:23 PM #203Agree po! On a slightly ot note I loved our 95 exi accord ATback then. To me it was a luxury car. Luxury car ride, luxury car interior coming from l300 vans, lancer box, toyota small body gli (no power anything). Of course there was the toyota crown but they were few and i never got to ride in one.

When buying midsizers, you should consider the resale value relative to other cars in its price range.
A 1.7M Fortuner will still sell for about 1M-1.2M after 5 years. A 1.7M Accord will sell for about 800k or less.
Yes they have the same SRP, but overall cost of the Accord is higher since it has far worse resale value. Why so? Because most people don't want high end interiors and plush ride at the expense of terrible fuel consumption and low ride heights. They want fuel efficiency, ruggedness, and flood fording ability. It's no surprise that SUVs outsell midsize cars 100 to 1.
Of course, if your heart beats for a midsizer, get one. 😊

2011 Toyota Fortuner 4x4s sell for about 850-950T. 2011 Honda Accords for 650T-750T ... difference is not much as initially thought ...

Thanks for the clarification on the prices of PPVs vs midsizers.
My friend has been trying to sell his 2007 Camry for a year now, still no takers at 450k, while another friend just sold his 2008 Fort for 700k after a few weeks of putting it up for sale. More than the price per se (though the difference between 450k and 700k is huge), the ease of selling an SUV vs a midsizer is another thing to consider.

September 11th, 2016 01:56 PM #207Ang mahal naman ng 450k for a 2007 camry, dapat yan 200k na lang. 9 years na yan

Yeah, that's another factor ... selling an SUV, diesel or pickup is much much easier than selling a gasoline midsize, compact, crossover or SUV ...
Maybe it's a Camry 3.5Q ... this would really be hard to sell ...
