    If I am correct, diesel gensets are more expensive than gasoline gensets. You can find diesel genset only from units with output of 3000watts up. Lower output gensets are gasoline fed.

    Inverter- more expensive but also more efficient than common gensets.

    6kva genset is more than enough for the specified appliances.

    kw vs kva? Yan ang ndi ko alam. Hahaha

    Kw = Kilo watts
    KVA = Kilo Volt Amperes

    W= VA (VxA) or Power = Voltage x Current

    Therefore Kilowatt is the same as Kilo Volt Amprere.

    Yan din ang alam ko before pero mali pala.

    Parang may power factor sa equation. Pag power factor =1, KW=KVA. Pero bihira naman daw 1 ang power factor.

    VA (or volt-ampere) has a reactive load - either capacitive,- but almost all of the times, inductive
    W - is purely resistive load...

    For house consumption (all intents and purposes), they are practically the same. They are "interchangeable"

    Else,- I will have you to go through complex mathematical computations....

    With so many stores and with maids, there should be no need to stock up on fish, meat and poultry. So the power outages only inconvenience would be illumination and air conditioning.

    I started this thread and bought a gen set. Up to now di ko pa nagagamit haha.

    I have about 5 hours on it to warm it up at least 2-3x a month.

    So is it worth it? No idea di ko pa nagagamit. But its there when i need it like a gun

    I tell you dear bro.,- the first time you use it,- and your neighbors are lingering in the dark...

    It is worth every penny you paid for it!...

    I also started a gen set thread which I believe was merged into the current one. I am the fourth post which says says says BANNED! BANNED! BANNED! (O.T. Honestly, I do not know why my account was banned, tsk tsk tsk).

    So my post was like in 2006 but I bought my gen set . . . . . . last week!!!!

    So I decided to buy a small taiwan-made, copper winding (Japan technology whatever) gen set with a rated capacity of 1,000watts.

    Napag-isip isip ko din na kung saglit lang naman ang brownout (mga 4 hours), hindi ko na kailangan isaksak pa ang ref at titiisin ko na lang mag-electtric fan.

    Kung matagalang brownout naman tulad nung Glenda (3 weeks kami wala kuryente), mauubos naman pera ko kung mag-eercon at mag-reref pa kami.

    In short, maliit ng gen set lang kailangan ko. Just enough for the basics.

    BTW, I plan to enclose it in a baffle/quiet box. Can you recommend any sound deadening materials that I can easily get. Design is easy to get in the net.

    My 5 yr old 1.5kva china genset is still good and kicking. Nasa 50hrs pa lang siguro ang runtime ko dito. Pero thst includes a .5hp aircon.

    I store the genset fully fuelled with BLAZE, lasts up to a year in storage and just swap it out every summer.

    Pero ngayon stored unfuelled na sya, naka hybrid solar na ako.

    Pre.. Balita ko tuloy na tuloy daw brownout... At nakakahiya naman daw at humihingi pa ng emergency powers, Tapos wala naman palang brownout... Kaya sa April and May nalang nila schedule ang plant maintenance shutdown... He he...
