Read about that too, may manganese daw. This made VW hesitant about bringing in some of their models because of "dirty" fuel.

That same article said that it's just the small players (importers) that have manganese.

June 29th, 2014 11:49 PM #33well, i wasn't sure of this "news".. whether it was true or not.
so, i just stuck to caltex unleaded, because it was conveniently near the house. buti na lang, my sentra liked caltex unleaded.
besides, caltex had this "techron" ad, which, i believe, had some hint of truth to it...

You're so concerned with adulterated fuels, where are you from anyway?
Like I said, it's much more uncommon than you think.
Also, it's actually really just like you gassing up at an independent. Won't really mess up your engine, just doesn't have the fancy additives.
Of course, big players have a very hard stance on dumping because they have a brand to protect, and because every liter dumped means another liter that the company didn't earn from.

400 kms south of Manila is Bicol.
As long as you fill up with the big stations inside key towns (Naga, Pili, Iriga, Legaspi, Sorsogon), chances of dumpee sites are close to nil.
Unless you mean 400 km south, including island crossings. Then that puts you in Romblon (other islands are nearer or farther than 400km from Manila). Limited choices there as there is minimal presence from the big players.Last edited by jut703; July 1st, 2014 at 01:39 AM.
