June 28th, 2014 03:50 AM #1221Had alarm issues now, thats after 2 years. Faulty shock sensor. Basta na lang mag alarm bigla. Pag lock, mga after 30 sec magalarm na lang ng basta.
Called up winterpine and they will replace the alarm shock sensor.

June 28th, 2014 10:31 AM #1222Driven and owned a 2011 Montero and it has clocked about 40k kms already. Scheduled PMS this coming Monday.
Main issues encountered:
1) Rust formation in the fuel neck/tank - check engine lit up and after inspection they found that the fuel neck had rust formation. Blamed the fuel I top up with. Used to use mainly Petron or Shell Diesel only.
Solution: Switched to Euro 4 diesel. been using Seaoil diesel since January 2014. So far no issues with it but since they haven't replaced the rusted part yet, my check engine light flickers on and off from time to time.
2)Suspension - had mine replaced because it had fluid leak when it was just clocking around 15K kms in mileage.
Solution: Driving more alert since then because I think I did ended up going through potholes at speed during carving through Maharlika Highway 2 years ago.
3) Cold start power loss isses - whenever the engine starts after being off for more than 10 hours, you will feel the engine not being very responsive. Problem is more prevalent when using Caltex Diesel.
Solution: Read forums and switched to Euro 4. Problem has not resurfaced ever since.
4) AVT MID Unit freezes up ang hangs after prolonged use (more than 4 hours of continuous use - It also actually crashed and restarted but could not play any digital files on the USB
Solution: Winterpine completely replaced the unit under warranty
5) Alarm too senstive - Leaving the car in any parking area, alarm would immediately blare out eventhough no one is nearby.
Solution: Winterpine checked the sensor setting. Although it was already in the least senstivie setting, the issue was prevalent. They completely replaced the device handling the sensitivity setting
Overall still happy with the vehicle but I do hope the rust formation does not resurface after I am now using Euro 4 diesel.
Also, after switching to Euro 4, I never had any instance of "black soot/smoke" being belched out the exhaust pipes anymore. Greyish (Light to medium) in most cases only after 6 months of exclusively only Euro 4 fuel.

June 29th, 2014 02:05 PM #1224Hello mga Sir! Newbie here. 2008 MS A/T GLS
May problem po ako, may sound po napoproduce sa may engine na parang nagsslip ung fan belt lalo na po pag inaapakan ung accelarator pedal. At mas nagiging prominent yung squeaking sound kapag naka-on ang AC. Naexperience ko ito last year pero di ko pinansin. Nawala naman. Tapos ngayon bumalik ulit. Sabi sakin... bka maluwag lang daw yung fanbelt. Ano po sa tingin nyo ang problem? Thanks.

June 30th, 2014 07:29 PM #1228Mine is a 2012 glsv m/t. Odo is 29k. All stock.
Resolved my alarm issues by timing my casa appt when the winterpine tech was there. Replaced alarm sensor under warranty. Toyota alarm systems are better since you can lock/open doors independent of the alarm.
Been using euro4 always since a year ago except for the travel up north where I refill with petron turbodiesel. So tank is still a mixture of fuels. Black smoke only when abruptly accelerating up to 3k rpm. Seems to lessen after repeatedly stepping up to 3k rpm. Black smoke on acceleration again after not using the vehicle for a few days. Had the egr cleaned twice already. Laptop diagnostics are within normal. Casa admits all has been done. Explanation accepted already.
FC is 9to10km/l city by manual compute. Improves to 14 km/l by mid if you keep at 80kph though almost impossible to do so. This is a fast car.
No check engine light or loss of power ever.
Very much enjoying cruise control on the highways up north and down south.
Radio preset buttons and dvd function unpredictable. For winterpine aurora checking under warranty. MID gps tpms working fine.
Seat not ergonomic. Bad for long trips. Remedied with 4 pcs of elevo seat cushion with headrest for driver passenger and 2nd row.
Significantly better suspension vs fortuner and innova felt when on bad roads.
4h on inclines steep mountain roads and heavy rain very useful.
So far still a good buy and no regrets. Posting to help would be buyers since this forum is the main reason why we got the monty. Thanks and continue posting feedback.
