Spareparts staff told me that the electrical supply current of the istop battery is totally different from ordinary motolites...if i remember it right parang 500amps or something daw.

The high current is needed to crank the engine on and off many times.

Gaano po ba ka laki na sa save na fuel ng istop? Kung ganun ka mahal battery niya at every 2 years yung palit parang bali wala din yung na save mo na fuel na punta lang sa cost ng pag replace ng battery?

Am comparing the cx5 with the forester.

    Both has pros and cons.

At the end of the day...depende sa taste mo

    My opinion

    CX5 2.0 pro and 2.5awd
    Pros
    1) pogi
    2) front seats have good form and support
    3) plenty of toys afs/lane change alert/sensors/etc
    4) Yojin3 warranty + 100,000kms covered
    5) front visibility is good.

    Cons
    1) stiff ride
    2) cabin space is tight
    3) parts seem pricey esp the battery
    4) blind spots sa likod
    5) hirap to find accessories and upgrade electronics coz of too sensitive Cpu system.

    forester 2.0 and 2.0premium

    1) cabin space is big
    2) road handling and braking is great esp steering wheel response
    3) new toy included in the 2.0premium (sunroof/power seats/etc)
    4) all wheel drive/traction control/hill assist/xdrive/etc

    Cons
    1) warranty is only 60,000kms
    2) pricey din parts esp body and engine parts
    3) fuel consumption
    4) not so good looking fascia

Ang challenge is that for the price of a forester 2.0premium P1.6M ...you already have a 2.5awd CX5 P1.685

Pag base vs base model...P1.3M awd forester vs 1.4M fwd Cx5....

Mazda wanted to assure buyers that their high compression engines will not require high octane fuels. A Ferrari has similar compression ratios and it needs the highest octane gas available. Di ata nakinig ng mabuti ang ahente o mali ang intindi o mali ang turo. It will take 100 octane just fine. Problem is the ECU is optimized for 93 so you won't be able to benefit much from high octane gas so sayang lang.

Taking the liberty to answer on your query.

This is clearly incorrect information made by the concern dealer and NO such information made or disclosed by Mazda Philippines.
Fuel requirements for SKYACTIV engines is regular unleaded fuel which are clearly shown in the Owner’s manual. Regular Unleaded Gasoline is the preferred and recommended fuel type for Mazda Skyactiv engines, and are typically rated between 91RON to 95RON.

On the hand, battery for Mazda vehicles equipped with i-Stop system is constructed and made differently from normal conventional battery. As the battery for vehicles equipped with I-Stop has to cope with different charge and discharge cycle, material and construction of the battery are specifically designed for I-Stop vehicles. Using a normal conventional battery will compromise the vehicle performance as well as the life span and efficiency of the battery.

Hope this helps. In case you will be needing further assistance, we would gladly assist you.

    Thanks!

AFAIK, mas matagtag ng di hamak ang Forester kaysa sa CX-5 kaya mas cons sa Forester yun. CX-5 has rear view camera on the base model now so visibility is pretty much covered. Tapos road handling and braking is also one of the strengths of Mazda CX-5 so let's not take it from the vehicle - a lot of reviewers find it really hard to pick a clear winner between these 2 on this aspect. A lot of people who did the test drive can also attest to that. I'd say that ung pros talaga nung Forester over CX-5 is the bigger overall space, real off-road capability and the known reliability. Plus they have a mid trim, parang imagine mo lahat ng goodies ng 2.5AWD TOTL and put it on a 2.0 FWD and price it midway (around 1.55M?). Pros of the CX-5 over the Forester will be fuel efficiency, exterior styling, toys, Yojin3, and 40km more warranty. Both have pricey parts so patas lang sila on that regard. :-)

Daming natatakot bumili ng CX-5 just because of the iStop battery cost. Don't be afraid of buying one because of the cost of the battery because you should also factor in na may 3 years na free PMS, free 24/7 roadside assistance, at 3 years or 100,000 warranty period because of the Yojin 3. Tipid din kayo sa gas niyo because of the iStop I read a review (forgot what website) that said the 2.0L can go as high as 11 km/L city driving due to the SkyActiv tech and iStop
