Bumper to bumper traffic daily? That may explain.

If not, that is very strange for a small cc vehicle.

Hope you did not get a lemon. Read the Accent thread.

My route is from roosevelt, qc.. via del monte.. Espana.. Quiapo.. Lawton then to roxas blvd. Vito cruz...
Sa espana lng ako mostly natatraffic... From welcome rotonda to ust.. Then the rest ok nmn na...

During the 1st 2 weeks ung brother ko ang gumamit. Ang route nya is from greenhills to makati lng.. Ganun din ang consumption nya..
He said na mahal sonra.. Kc ung honda city nya.. 5 years na sa knya pero 10km/L pa dn up to now...

    Really strange... And frustrating!!

What lemon? I tried looking for it kaya lng di ko mahanap.. Sorry...

A lemon is a car, often new, that is found to be defective only after it has been bought. Any vehicle with numerous, severe issues can be termed a "lemon".

Contrary to popular belief, pag naka matic ka, you have to get the slushbox to shift up to the highest gear possible for your current speed kung gusto mo maka-tipid sa gasolina. This means stepping on the gas pedal and not feathering it.

I know this for a fact because I drove a stick shift carb for the past 7 years at pag naka-karburador ang oto mo at manual pa, kailangan talaga magaang ang paa mo kung gusto mo maka-tipid. I was difficult for me to unlearn my ways but forcing myself to step on the pedal with my new car can bring my fuel consumption up as much as 1.5km/L.

Oh no.. Wag nmn sana... Problems that i encounter is the alarm and high fuel consumption... I just don't know about the "knocking" issue.... Usually Ganu ba kalakas ung knock na maririnig? N what triggers the engine to knock?

Just this weekend, me & my commander + baggage went to Baguio for a short stay

Left Ortigas Ave on full tank of regular unleaded

Pasig to Baguio and back total = 542 km

    Fuel used = 6L at Tarlac + 39 upon return to Ortigas = 45L

Result = 12 km/L on really aggressive driving, much heavier pa kami going back due to pasalubong at mga pabilin...

Syempre happy na ako sa result

This car can easily get 15-16 highway kung steady lang sana ako. Kaso hindi eh...

I've been observing my new Accent's fuel consumption for the past couple of weeks and judging by how mine drives, I would think the MT versions have a serious edge vs. the AT when it comes to fuel consumption. (I own an AT, by the way).

For one, the high FC in the AT versions may be attributed to the tranny more than the engine.

The AT version starts to really save on fuel when you hit 3rd. If we base FC solely on the gauge, I would barely go over 10km/100L if I drive my usual way. Unfortunately, even moderate EDSA traffic will render third gear useless and the AT will just play between 1st and 2nd where the FC gauge will read as low as 10km/100L to as high as 26km/100L. If that's the case, half an hour in that kind of traffic will be enough to offset any savings you get from 3rd and 4th.

I can save as much as 3-4km/L operating the slushbox in manual mode, but that defeats the purpose of getting an AT doesn't it?

I'm curious how a light fully synthetic lubricant might help with the FC. I'm currently using Hyundai's in-house 10w-40 Semi-Synth.

2012 Hyundai Tucson Theta II 2.0L GL AT (all stock)

Highway driving (No traffic Edsa [6:30AM] to Batino Exit via SLEX: 6.3L/100km (~15.9 km/L)

since break-in pa ako, speed sa SLEX is 80 to 100 kph (medyo aware ako sa speed limits kasi nahuli ako along Commonwealth at 71 kph; 60 kph pala max dun). im using Shell V-Power Nitro+ Gasoline

[pag turbo may problem mausok cya kasi may pumapasok na langis papuntang intercooler isang pinakamagandang pag maintain jan is to wait 3 minutes idling time sa engine before shutting it down lalo na ang turbo mainit yan and may onti langis pumapasok jan kelangan ma settle down nya eto ng 3 minutes para mag cooldown and d matuyo ang langis na pumasok dun kasi may mga vanes jan pag natuyo yan magiging carbon deposit sya and titigas yan sumisira sa turbo one thing can help is the turbo timer and ang turbo engages in 80km up

*andro, thanks for the tip. Ako nga 20 years na ako nagdri-drive ng manual.. so its really hard to unlearn driving ways. Kinda depressing nga yung high fuel consumption ng Accent ko for city driving. Ive tried using the matic mode sometimes, but i always forget to change gears when in matic mode.. and di ako sanay up down lang (+/-), syempre nasanay pag manual e yung "H" mode But maybe ill try to use that more, see if i can improve FC a bit.

ahhh the Baguio Trip. In Summer 2011 we did that as well. Best drive to date with my bnew (at that time) Accent... Left Manila full tank . Was able to sneak in some 120 kph along Nlex and Sctex (slowing down on "radar-prone" areas, para di mahuli speeding)
nag-gas kami just before climbing Kennon Road. FC ko is 14L /100km, wala pang half naubos sa gas.

Wanted to go back to Baguio this 2012 e, di natuloy sayang. Wish i could take more long out of town trips para naman ma-enjoy talaga ang car. Hanggang Tagaytay na lang kami lagi.. e lapit lang, kuha in 40 mins with no Traffic
