Left foot at tge brake pedal while right foot on the gas pedal. Rev the engine until desired rpm while stepping on the brake pedal then release the brake pedal to get the superb launch.

Yep our monty are thai made. Which more question arises, kung may sudden acceleration dito dapat meron rin doon and infact in other asian countries rin pero parang dito lang may ganitong issue. Kung based sa manufacturer walang problem after making an investigation into this issue. The only possible and reasonable next thing to look at is our dealership if they are really doig their job according sa specs given by the manufacturer. Second would be my previous post where in baka napasukan ng bug yun diagnostic check program nila for the monty and strada. If this will be the case, not all dealership is at fault. Prehaps we can narrow down the list by asking the victims as to where did they had their PMS done after tge incident.

Isolated cases lang and not the rampage thing going on here. Lets say sa isang dealership for tgat day may 10 monty nag paservice. Im sure hindi lang diagnostic tools gamit nila coz this test will take a long time, so im pressuming na baka may 5 units sila ng diagnostic machine at baka isa doon yun may bug that is causing this.

Try nyo Sea Oil Diesel mas tatahimik unit nyo.

16 incidents just had happened, it's quite alarming. Hindi na tsamba lang ang pangyayari. Any ideas, or safety precautions what to do in case mangyari sa inyo yung sudden accelarition. Mine is to stop the engine, and pull up the hand brake...

16 incidents which IMHO is not entirely believable...take for example manual tranny suddenly accelerating? Unless you put it on 1st gear or reverse, it won't move. No one will admit human error.....you can not claim insurance if you do......

If you don't step on the accelerator pedal, RPM cannot go to 3,000 rpm also. Montero does not have a motor servo like those in the cruise control mechanism which can control your gas pedal to give more power or lessen the power depending on how you set the computer. Ang meron lang is a mechanism which brings up your idling rpm by 200 rpm every time your A/C compressor cuts in. Also the engine computer only monitors parameters for optimum operation of the engine, and advice you when it has detected any fault. The transmition, manual or automatic must be activated to move the car. If you have a stuck accelerator, and you still shifted to D, then you are in trouble. But in case this happens, you can still use your brakes, and there is no reason your brakes won't work if you are really stepping on it instead of the gas pedal.

Try to google search "sudden acceleration" and one will find out that a lot of major car manufacturers have this issue. Toyota and Ford has the most number of reported cases in the US. This has been a big issue in the US for the past 5 years or so. Perhaps its only recently that we filipinos became aware of it. Toyota's investigation report likewise blamed the floor mat and driver error. We cannot totally rule out possible design flaw, but neither can we also rule out other causes such as driver error, floor mats, etc. As to why it is only the montero that has reported incidents of this nature in the philippines, it is simply because one victim of this incident made a blog and posted all incidents gathered from different sources thus making it publicly known. I dont blame him though as this might even benefit us consumers. Remember, this incidents has happened a lot even during the 70's and 80's but the vehicles that time were mostly M/T so it was easier to control and the internet was not widely used to "spread the word". I hope a government agency would investigate this issue and clear this issue once and for all. Yes, stop engine while constantly applying pressure on the brake. Kaya nga apak brake talag whether shifting from N to D ot N to R. Sa starting naman hindi mag-start yan kung wala sa P or N yung key diba. So kung mag-sudden rev ng engine, hindi ka pa din dapat makabangga/disgrasya.

Sa MT, mas mahirap yun kasi dapat apak ng brake, apak ng kambiyada bago ilagay sa 1st gear or Reverse.

Sir, as what the video I posted said, shutting off the engine should be considered as the last resort as you might lose the power brake and power steering. Shifting to neutral and applying the brake is sufficient.

I think if it's already moving like what happened with Toyota's infamous 911 call.

If starting kasi yung sa MS na unang na-post dito na incident eh. In that case, la pa buwelo so no need for the steering. Concern mo is how to stop the engine kasi diba? Hope some can enlightne better the difference between the two.
