July 9th, 2011 02:21 PM #1451rm molivar is right about the space for evaporation. and ur tank is more prone to corrosion kasi yun moisture always at the top. mostly ang metal ng inner tank ay raw steel, meaning no anti rust. your only anti rust protection is the fuel itself since it contains oil and additives againts rust.

Used to work for a company that sells a required equipment for all gas stations. We have independent stations requiring frequent maintenance compared to standardized big 3 stations (shell, petron, caltex).
On our analysis, they (not all) were using substandard gas sometimes mixing un-authorized additives which easts up the metal/plastic of the equipment. Example of these additives is a substance to make the unleaded smell and colored like a premium (then sold as premium). These will only work for a week or two and have to be renewed.
after learning this, I stopped fueling from independents. they maybe cheaper by 0.5 to 1 peso but not worth the risk for my car.

July 9th, 2011 02:33 PM #1454yes it does, but more space for fuel to linger means more evaporation, and the fuel reservoir have a breather and blow off valves if the pressure exceeds its limit. in this valves or breather is where your wasted gas will flow. and once ur fuel evaporated it will not condense again under normal circumstances. half tank is only advisable when going uphill. 20 litters of gas is not significant . its less than the weight of one passenger. it may be significant to those car that is under power. but for 1.6 and 1.8 . i think its not unless you race. and it is more significant to protect your tank against corrosion. and our fuel here are not so clean or certified that it is water free

July 9th, 2011 02:50 PM #1456for me, it makes more sense to fill my tank kasi it reduces the number of trips i have to make to the gas station. also, totoo na pag bukas ka ng bukas ng gas cap, sisingawan ka lang ng evap gas. also, a full tank does not necessarily make you use up more gas, kasi while it is true that you step on the gas more to push a heavier load, so do you need not to step on the pedal longer to carry your car to a stop. u count on momentum to do that.

July 9th, 2011 02:50 PM #1457actualy is not about the cost of the gas but e10 yun problem, yun mga old car at motorcycle ng mga ahente and messenger ko nasisira yun fuel line nila at tumotope yun car. and these damage not only the fuel consumption but also the engine and its component. and besides the big 3 is not that 100 percent reliable. it always depends on the station itself, ihave 2 dealers ng gas station ng shell nakilala ko. they do but not always get their supply to some of the independent dealers when the supply is low and over price. and i have also a friend who is independent dealers get their supply from caltex.
