January 9th, 2006 04:56 PM #1We're planning to hook up three (3) PCs at home.
Our choices are:
- Three (3) plan 999s = 384kbps each PC
OR
- One (1) plan 3000 = 1Mbps / 3 = 333kbps each PC
Pareho lang halos yung price and speed, pero what is more advisable? Sabi ng isang technician, madali lang daw i-split yung dsl, pero yung operator sa 171 says hindi daw maganda ang performance pag naka-split, tsaka hindi raw yung allowed. Mas-advisable daw pag tig plan 999 na lang.

All you need is one DSL account then a DSL router (example: Linksys BEFSR41 4-port DSL Router which costs P2,350) to distribute the internet to your three computers. You can even have WiFi (wireless) LAN setup but prices for the WiFi lan cards are a bit more expensive than the equivalent wired version.
Of course, having only one account will mean you are limited that the speed of that account so you might want to get a faster account than 384kbps.

Take my home setup as an example. I have two desktop PCs and my wife uses a notebook PC. All are connected via RJ45 cables to the Linksys router. Then I have two more PCs in two other rooms which are connected via WiFi to the Linksys router. All five computers are connected to the internet.Last edited by ghosthunter; January 9th, 2006 at 05:16 PM.

BTW, having three DSL accounts will require you to have THREE PHONE LINES. Thats another cost you will have to figure in if you don't have three phone lines right now.
Even having three DSL lines will not guarantee redundancy simply because all three are from the same broadband provider.

BTW, what is the reason why you want 1MBPS broadband connection?.. games? power surfing/downloading? video conferencing? Super-duper ****o downloads?

If you don't mind buying additional hardware to hook up your 3 pc's into one DSL connection, then kunin mo yung plan 3000 otherwise get 3 seperate 999's na lang provided you have 3 phone lines.

BTW, a ROUTER is a device that is used to distribute an internet connection to a local area network. You can connect one or more computers to the router.

Hehe mahilig kasi kami magkakapatid sa online games. Also for power surfing and downloading, of course.
