March 23rd, 2007 04:10 AM #1Hi. I'm a Linux newbie. I'm planning to dual-boot XP and BL 3.1 on a 320Gb HD currently configured as a slave to my XP system. I was hoping to transfer my data to the slave then install XP then BL. I was wondering what your allocations for the partitions would be. Also, can you indicate kung alin doon sa partitions ang primary at extended/logical? Nagkaka-problema me right now kasi. Hindi ako maka-create ng more than 2 logical drives for the large 'shared' data partition kasi parang ayaw ng XP mag create ng more than 4 partitions/logical drives so I'm really desperate for some help. Thank you!

naligaw ata ang post ah...
whats BL3.1?
I was wondering what your allocations for the partitions would be.
depende kung ano primary desktop mo. sa akin kasi an hour or two a week na lang nagagamit yung windows. so maliit lang alloted space ko sa kanya.
Also, can you indicate kung alin doon sa partitions ang primary at extended/logical?

Bayanihan Linux 3.1? Outdated na yun ah, that's what I used when I experimented with Linux a long time ago. Even then it was already outdated.
I can't really give any recommendations on this, because I don't use Linux anymore. But why BL 3.1?

March 25th, 2007 04:31 AM #6Thanks for the help guys. Dati (a looong time ago) I tried Red Hat -- dapat for a low-spec old unit kaso I found out, demanding din pala siya. Tapos ang hirap pa ng support.
So na-junk yung experiment ko sa Linux.
Nung na-delay yung XP at ang choices were either Win 98 (old), ME, or 2000, naghanap na naman ako at nakita ko itong BL -- gawang pinoy pa. Chineck ko ang website at support forum nila, madaming post. Pero nung ita-try ko na, lumabas na XP.
Ngayon, lalabas na Vista, sawang sawa na ako sa kaka-upgrade just because the OS says so!!! Tapos kapiraso lang naman improvement, dami pa patches.
Kaya nilalabas ko uli yung BL 3.1.
Kaya lang ngayon di na kasing dami ang nagpo-post sa forum -- despite there being a BL 4.2 that's in Beta2. So I just might take your advise, depende kung dumami na ang suporta dun sa BL. Haaay.
It's really strange how my HD doesn't want to be partitioned into more than 4 drives though -- kahit 2 lang yung primary at logical yung iba! Anyone care to take a shot at it?

gamit ka na lang ng Linux Fedora Core 6 sir... sya pa ang mag recommend sayo what partition to install to... ang mahalaga separate partitions mo install XP & Linux...
siguro sir gamitin mo yung command line executable for partitioning -> Diskpart.exe Check nyo na lang sa help anong command kailangan mo gamitin.

March 25th, 2007 09:31 AM #8i hear Ubuntu Linux is designed for the desktop, baka mas hiyang yan sa yo...although imho any distro's X/windows setup is usable na.
why not use windows xp or 2k? kuntento na ako dun, and i dont see myself upgrading to vista anytime soon. medyo nakakapanibago kasi ung interface ng X/windows kung sanay ka sa windows
