April 24th, 2015 09:59 AM #1I'm torn between a brand new Asus RT-N18u thus with warranty priced at P 4,300 and a slightly used Asus RT-AC56u (no warranty) at P 5,000.00. A brand new Asus RT-AC56u is around P 9k++.

what would be the difference on the two units?
i would go for the brand new with warranty.

My dad just brought home an AC router from the office for testing. Only my phone detected it, since all our other devices (incl. laptops) only have wireless N and not wireless AC.
I'd say just get the RT-N18u between the two. AC is a few years away from mainstream use anyway.
But personally I don't like how these Asus routers look with their glossy square patterns. I'd be looking at Belkin or Cisco instead.

April 24th, 2015 02:35 PM #4Get the future proof router. All else being equal. I have trouble streaming true 1080p over a wireless N network to a wdtv live box in the same room as the router. The router is one of those DLink 300 things. Having AC would have fixed that (of course the client device also needs to support AC)
