Not gonna say the Explorer can do it too, but Pajero has been unibody + IRS since the 3rd gen and is still a legit trail vehicle (Ranger Rover too since the LR322).

Traction based 4WD has gotten really good, almost to the point where lifting a wheel isn't a big problem.

With the right tires and ground clearance most crossover AWDs/4WDs can handle more challenging trails naman. But I'll forever be uncomfortable with the way a unibody flexes under those conditions.

Still a big difference between crossovers/soft-roaders and proper 4x4 even if both are unibody. Crossovers hirap na hirap over stuff that the Pajero or new Defender would easily get through.

Low range gearing, enough ground clearance a proper AWD hardware (if no low range offered) are the ingredients for a slight challenging trails for a crossover SUVs..

Chevrolet has brought the Z71 nameplate in the all new 2024 Traverse mid sized crossover SUV. Z71 is an offroad package offered only on their pickup trucks and body on frame SUVs.

The all new Traverse borrowed some of the styling cues from its bigger SUV cousin, the Tahoe.
