Wonder if this will ever catch on here. Trail ready crossovers. Or 4xPorma lite?

ok yan. most people just wanna ride some dirt roads w/ some muddy patches that'll get 2wd cars stuck. for that purpose you don't need live axles and low-range gearing. you just need a competent AWD that knows which low-traction wheel to brake

    Sema inspired offroad crossovers...

kia/hyundais have this center locking diff which i guess is even getting more developed. They need this to fight off the subarus

    Ford Explorer
AFAIK the new Ford Explorer is RWD based again so it's a proper 4wd.
The previous gen (2011-2019) is FWD based and correctly classified as a soft-roader.

Bago kong natuklasang off-road trail sa NCR is yung sa dulo ng Mindanao Avenue north bound. Yung turning right ka na papuntang P. Dela Cruz street.

You're right! Still a unibody though so I wouldn't take it on any serious trail. Crossover suspension articulation is limited as well compared to ladder on frame counterparts.

I brought my Forester XT on dirt and muddy roads on stock wheels in Pampanga. Wala naman problem. I even tried pebbles and sand in Baler, I just let Subaru’s AWD system took over.

The first time I tried X-mode was on a short patch of muddy road along Kennon Road. Jeepneys and trucks didn’t take the chance to cross. Placed the XT on X-mode, eased on the gas pedal, and the vehicle just went thru the mud with ease.

I guess with AT tires or something suited more for trail, the Forester SJ platform can deal with light to medium trail roads. Subaru is quite popular on the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and Northeast regions of the US where camping is a pastime.

Just bought a dirt cheap Forester SH to enjoy trail roads and I am hooked, now planning to upgrade to make it more hard core.

Not really into the whole overlanding thing (yet) but even a simple road trip to the province can put your high-riding crossover to good use.

This was the Bypass Road in Gumaca on the way to Bicol that was supposedly passable for “light vehicles”:

I was supposed to bring my sedan for the road trip, but good thing I decided to bring a higher car. Still haven’t needed AWD though, but might come in handy someday.
