December 9th, 2024 06:36 PM #291The 2024 season closes with McLaren winning the constructors' title after a 26-year wait while Max Verstappen wins his 4th consecutive WDC.
Max is now tied with Alain Prost and fellow Red Bull alum Sebastian Vettel. Only the truly great ones are ahead with more than 4 championships: Juan Manuel Fangio (5), Michael Schumacher (7), and Lewis Hamilton (7**).
**Many, myself included, will insist that Verstappen really only won 3 and Hamilton should have had 8 WDC's but that's a debate for another post for another day. 8)
In a season where Verstappen arguably had an inferior car and barely any help from Sergio Perez (who had a forgettable season), Max won by considerable skill, guile, and a lot of sheer will. The Brazilian GP was a statement to Max's talent and showed he is definitely the best driver of his generation.
