2003 Explorer Sport Traq still a good buy?
Ok, paid for the farm yesterday, scaled down to just 5 hectares from the planned 10. Naunahan ako dun sa first prospect ko na 11nhectares e. Kukulitin ko na lang yung katabi to sell to me another 5 hectares. Kinaya naman ng sorento 4x2 yung farm roads when i did the occular last monday, dirt and gravel road with some portions that if it were a rainy day the 4x2 would have surely got stuck. So now i need a 4x4!
question 1. Good buy pa ba ang 2002/03 ford explorer sport traq 4x4? 90,000 km mileage yung best na nakita ko online at P330k negotiable. 2002 models are priced at 310k negotiable. Distance from QC to farm is 145 km (nlex, sctex and tplex, part of magilas trail then approximately 15km of dirt road). Considering it will be a weekend car i don't really care much about fuel cost. Ang tanong e, from experience or hearsay, okay ba ang explorer on mud and moderate offroad? Di naman kaya labas-masuk ako sa repair shop for suspension repairs? I will not keep it for a long time, max 2-3 years pero syempre gusto ko may resale value pa din kahit konti. After 2 years kasi di ko na need ang pick up, i will sell this and add the value to the down for a new suv, probably a new everest if maganda yung bago.
question 2: alam ko yung vitara proven na offroad. But how about the grand vitara 2.4 4x4? Meron kasi akong nakitang grand vitara2.4 for 280k.
question 3: any other recommendations, max budget 350k including repairs if any. Basic requirements are 4x4, respectable off road capability (i will not go to pinatubo, just dirt roads that will definitely be muddy when it rains), crew cab or suv type, can carry 4-6 sacks of fertilizer.

Try to look for a 95-96 model hilux ln106. Kung maka swerte ka makakahanap ka ng 350k. Indestructible hilux ito and has good offroading capabilities.

a 2000-2002 model Ford Ranger will be more practical and has better off road credentials than the Sport Trac.
Re: 2003 Explorer Sport Traq still a good buy?
So kung ok yung 95-96 hilux how about the 2000-2001 hilux surf? Yung 3.0 turbo diesel version?

Grabe ang mahal ng mga Hilux even for those year models you've mentioned. ung iba abot 600k. Bihira ung bumababa ng 400k.

bloated na ang resale ng LN106 and LN166. parang Land Cruiser 80 series na after maipalabas yung indestructible hilux ng Top Gear UK.

Sportac, loklok sa gas pero sarap ihataw.
4-6 sacks of fertilizers? thats definitely a job for a pickup.
At your budget you can get 90's pickup any brand. Basic 4x4, rear leaf springs, open differential, diesel non-commonrail. Since you mentioned that you will be constantly visiting the farm, then better maintain the truck for future farm duties. You will need the pickup bed more than the seats of an SUV.
I am maintaining a farm but it did not require me a 4x4. it has road arteries paved with gravel so no worries of being stucked in rut. I have loaded almost everything.. livestocks, copra, palay, fruit extracts, machineries, sacks n sacks of fertilizers up to one tonne and no problems.
Re: 2003 Explorer Sport Traq still a good buy?
Nissan terrano? Or better frontier?
May supposedly local units of surf and terrano sa sulit e. Yung plate numbers naman nila ay C, W, X or U, not the surplus R and B. I am leaning more on these 2 now kasi i am thinking na in case i need to spend the night i can always lay a sleeping bag or mat at the back. Aalisin ko yung back seat if they are not fold and tumble type. Di kasi ako magpapatayo ng house sa farm, just a nipa hut with a toilet.
