MANILA - San Miguel Corp, the Philippines' most diversified conglomerate, is planning to present a proposal to the government soon for a new $10 billion airport in the capital, its president said on Tuesday.
Ramon Ang confirmed a Nikkei report that the company was set to present its plan for an alternative international airport in Manila next month. He confirmed the report in a text message to Reuters.
The group, which also owns a portion of flag carrier Philippine Airlines, announced last year its intention to build a new facility to replace the ageing airport currently in used. It delayed the plan pending questions on state policy on airline companies operating airports.
totoo kaya ito?
o kayabangan na naman ni RA?

March 25th, 2014 04:20 PM #2afaik SMC is very highly leveraged these days. Didn't they recently issue another set of corporate notes/bonds?

That's correct and so is every corporations who's heads are listed Forbes richest. Ang babarap pang magbigay ng premium, 3-5% lang per year. Last year pa itong proposal ng SMC but goverment is seating on it kasi it's going to be PAL airport lang while the rest of the airlines will still be stuck at NAIA.

me raises the red flag on this
i say ditch the blueprint without an adequate urban planning, management study and consultation with international 3rd party developers
it'll just exacerbate the problems of noise and air pollution in the surrounding cities. and issues like flight interference such as structure obstruction, lighting and communication plus the number of plane crashes these days? not worth the positive impact on travel convenience
isn't it obvious, naia badly needs every cent of their 10 billion investment

I think they should do it para maging profitable talaga ang PAL. Wala masyado connectivity sa Philippine airports kasi nga maliit ang terminals ng NAIA, anlalayo pa. Sa ganda ng location ng Pinas, dapat we're already competing sa HK in terms of pax traffic.
