May all who died rest in peace. Especially the children.

Aug 21, 2013 - At approximately 3:00am this morning in Damascus, a year to the day after Obama’s infamous “red line” speech warning Assad about using chemical weapons, and as a specialized UN inspection team sleep in their hotels in Damascus, ostensibly there to investigate a CW attack 6 months ago, Assad launched his largest, most wide scale and most deadly attack using chemical weapons on the Damascus suburbs of Zamallaka and Ein Turma in the Eastern Ghouta area. The fallout from the attack was also felt in many of the surrounding districts.
Preliminary reports are that close to 600 people have been killed so far with thousands more injured from the effects of the gas which some are claiming, based on the symptoms seen, to be “weaponized cyanide”
In two days, you and the rest of the world will forget about this massacre the same way you forgot about the rest that have happened over the last 2+ years in Syria.
We Syrians however, will never forget. Not the martyrs and not the way the rest of the world sat by and watched this happen to us.

More dead children.
And more dead children.

I don't understand why the US, with all their weapons and expertise, doesn't take out Assad yet. WTF are they waiting for?!

August 24th, 2013 03:44 PM #4if these are true, then brand Assad as a terrorist.....at least there would be a justification of using force against his regime.

Before you go supporting those so-called "rebels", know who they are first:

More points to consider:
-The Syrian Army is currently winning, so why use chemical warfare if conventional means are more than enough to beat the "rebels"?
-The chemical attack happened at the same time the UN inspectors are present
-The chemical attack is conveniently near where the UN inspectors are
-Military observers doubt the claim Syria would stupidly use chemical warfare(dubious they even possess those) at such a time when they know it'll trigger an intervention(more like invasion)
-The "rebels" are notorious for kidnapping and killing UN workers and soldiers
-It would be absurd to believe that Assad would carry out attacks if he's the one who invited UN inspectors in the first placeLast edited by safeorigin; August 27th, 2013 at 12:48 PM.

there's more incentive for the rebels to use chem weapons than Assad
the rebels want the West to intervene and the only way they can make the West intervene is to draw media attention to something truly horrible

Syria is more complicated than Libya
too many players...
Iran is pro-Assad
Russia is pro-Assad
there are pro-Assad groups in Turkey which is a NATO member
then there's the pro-US Gulf states who are against Assad
then there's Hamas, Al Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and other groups... each with their own interests
