On the another note, even the VP now has PDAF na rin pala. Talagang itong si nognog, spare tire lang, pero ayaw paiwan sa babuyan.

SC stops release of pork barrel, Malampaya

MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court on Tuesday, September 10, stopped the release of the lawmakers' Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF), or pork barrel, which is at the center of a scandal now being investigated by the Senate and the National Bureau of Investigation.

After an en banc meeting Tuesday, the High Tribunal issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the release of the remaining PDAF in the 2013 national budget and the Malampaya Funds, particulary those that the law allows the President to use.

Signed by all the justices, the TRO was based on at least 3 petitions filed against President Benigno Aquino III, Senate President Franklin Drilon and Executive Secretary Paquito Ocha Jr by various groups and inviduals.

One petition was filed by Greco Belgica; another by Samson Alcantara of the group Social Justice Society; and another by Pedrito Nepomuceno.

Oral arguments have been scheduled on October 8.

The multi-billion pork scandal, running for 3 months now, has linked Janet Lim Napoles to various lawmakers. She is accused of siphoning off PDAF through dubious NGOs with the consent of lawmakers or their chiefs of staff. - Rappler.com

Dept Ed should start to investigate these claims of scholarship grants being issued by tongressman. I doubt if these are all legitimate scholars who are of high scholastic achievers but short of funds. I believe many would fail on this category as some would just be relative or personal scholars for *** ng mga ibang tongressman since sila lang naman ang mga directly nag decide who to give. And what would the payback from these legitimate scholars be, i mean are they bound to work for goverment service after graduating as a form of payment or just be forever may utang na loob kay tongressman which result to political dynasties?

now is the best time for congress / senate to work... purely legislation work...

does that mean that senate blue ribbon committee hearing on pork will also be suspended?

There would be a lot of committee hearings now than ever cause dito lang sila kukuha ng extra money or per diem nila plus chairmanship allowances in the absence of PDAF kickbacks. Another source of income would be from lobbyist.
