hiningan ako ng opinion ng isang boss ko (female boss), she and her hubby are considering buying a diesel based family vehicle. main requirements are : #1 . must be a Diesel - para matipid -- Ford Sport Trac current daily vehicle nya - magastos daw sa gasoline, not enough space for her growing family; #2 - pwede daw pang bangga in case of emergency - like when there's a kidnapping threat or anything and #3 pwede pang family, they have 2 little kids and she's infanticipating right now. most probably, 4x4 is out dahil di na sya mahilig mag-outdoors, although, before, she used to drive a 4x4 Nissan Pathfinder.
They already own 2 Nissan Patrols - same model as prez. Ungas - ayaw nya, mahal daw maintenance, a 2001 Isuzu Trooper, an XUVi, and a Diesel 3.0 L Grandia. Ang idea pa lang nya, Ford Everest daw. Sabi ko it's a good vehicle, maliit nga lang for "banggaan" purposes. Ano kaya maganda recommend for them w/c fits the requirements above? New Patrol? Chevy Venture? inputs naman mga diesel lords

yeah everest kung pang harabas lang din. trooper, ok yun kasi isuzu, so kampante ka dahil dependable talaga, plus, malakas ang makina. kaso ang downfall sa trooper e, medyo mahal. yung grandia? it's a big no-no. kukuha ka din lang, e di yung trooper na. parehas lang ang displacement. i don't know ha, pero i have a gut feeling, underpowered ang grandia 3.0. saka mahirap yun, ang makina nasa ilalim ng driver. sa XUV? pwede na rin pero, mahina daw ang makina, thus mapu-pwersa lang, kaya uusok din. kung XUV lang din, e di everest na, konti lang ang price difference, pero malakas ang engine output sa same displacement. Pajero? Gen2, ok yun kung may available pa. Pajero Gen3, kung can afford why not? ewan ko ha, pero para sa akin, sa diesel engines kasi when you're thinking of buying one, e bilhin na yung pinakamalakas na can afford ng budget, or else sayang lang ang pera. kasi kung underpowered ang makina, pupwersahin mo yun para ma-reach mo ang desired speed, malakas din ang kunsumo. unlike yung larger displacement na diesel engine, hindi ka short sa power pero ang konsumo e ok lang. would you believe ang XUV na A/T na 2.5L e malakas pang kumain ng krudo kesa sa 3.0L ng DMax?

March 17th, 2004 02:30 PM #6I suggest you take a look at the 2004 Hyundai Starex (Locally distributed).
1. It has a very powerful diesel engine (2.5 Turbo Intercooler);
2. Its very huge and can ram any sedan if it gets into your way;
3. The kids will love the space since it is very big and comfortable inside the cabin;
4. Parts are very cheap, compared to other mini-vans;
You won't regret having one.

For family outfits:
- Kia Sedona/Carnival
- Hyundai Starex
- Nissan Serena (diesel variant)
- Ford Everest
- Mitsubishi G-Wagon (wait for its official release?)
Notice that all models listed have front crumple zones for safety reasons. Leave the Patrols for her body guards since she has 2 units for them to back her up.

thanks sa suggestions nyo. i emailed her your suggestions w/ matching pics ng vehicles: for van types: sedona, starex, and serena-diesel version. for suv types, everest, patrol, pajero gen 3, G-wagon. ganda pala ng G-wagon. more than 1 million baht pala yun. incidentally, nabanggit nya na baka ibenta daw nila yung isang patrol - dark green color, alam ko merong winch yun ewan lang kung isasama nila yung winch pag binenta nila. i'll inform you guys in case she does decide to sell.Last edited by rsnald; March 17th, 2004 at 07:36 PM.
