Hello tsikoteers! Tanong ko lang po kung pano ang tamang paggamit ng automatic transmission sa steep roads gaya sa Baguio or Sante Fe Nueva Vizcaya. Thank you po sa mga tips and professional advise.

Before going up very steep inclines, slow down the car and shift either to "L" (first gear) or "2" or "D2" (if your vehicle does not have a 1st gear).

Place it in drive, ibaon mo ang paa mo sa accelerator.
Alternately, place it in 3 or 2, ibaon mo ang gas sa flooring. :D

    Parang go kart.

hi, basta steep hills mag change ka to low gear o ito yon L kasi pag lowgear ka malakas break mo and malakas rin accelaration para di ka mabitin sa pag-ahon.at higit sa lahat eh magbibigay ito ng safety sayo dahil low gear will give you a maximum power for your break kung sakaling kailanganin mo ito.

Santa Fe has a "Gate-type A/T tranny with sportshift" or tiptronic AFAIK. ala siyang D2, D3 or L like the others, mas high-tech sya
pag talagang uphill at walang bwelo(like the road to Tayabas from Tagaytay), i just put it sa Manual Mode, then magaappear sa panel yung Gear mo( 1-5). then pagarangkada mo at feel mo hirap yung makina at tumataas RPM, downshift mo lng . pano? tulak mo lang paatras yung lever at lalabas naman sa panel kung pumasok. then pag downhill naman ganon din, asa manual ako para On-gear pa rin lagi.

exciting nga yang Tiptronic tranny na yan. even at overtaking gamit na gamit yan without flooring the pedal. basta clear lane, Manual mode ka, make sure asa normal RPM ka, then downshift mo . mafifeel mo biglang tataas RPM mo at hatak siempre. but beware not to reach redline then upshift mo na agad pag naovertake mo na.

^^ Bro,- Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya ang sabi niya....

I already drove our Starex GRX TCI AT both in Baguio (Marcos Hiway,- a few times) and twice(to and from) on the mountain road between San Jose, Nueva Ecija and Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.

I usually just place it in 'D', putting it in "overdrive off" mode. Works for me.

i read it well bro, so i know its Sante Fe N.E or Baguio.

i just gave my Santa Fe an example cos its a tiptronic A/T tranny type not the typical a/t like previously addressed, to give the thread starter an idea how it (tiptronic) works coz it has no D1,D2 or L......clear?
