September 5th, 2012 04:47 PM #1Hi sa lahat. I'm about to make my own first car purchase and I'm leaning towards either the Kia Rio 2012 or the Hyundai Elantra 2012. First time ko bumili ng sariling auto pero I've been driving a 2000 Honda City for mga 8yrs na. Ano sa palagay niyo? Or better ba bumili nalang ng 2nd hand na previous generation Mazda 3 or Civic?

if you would be keeping your car for a long time, it would be better to buy brand new.
so between the Rio and Elantra, both korean brands, I'd have to go with Elantra because of the numerous awards it has already won.

Anyway, i'll go with elantra. Mas malaki, and there's issue with the FC of rio HB. But expect bad service of HARI. So kung may ibang choices pa, mas ok sana

September 5th, 2012 10:01 PM #4Hmm so what would you recommend? I'm looking at a down payment of around 50k and a monthly amortization of around 20k. Elantra pinaka pasok dito because of its low down payment plans, even if medyo mataas yung monthly. The Civic and Mazda 3 etc nasa around 100k plus yung down eh. The Rio naman 50k down, 18k monthly.
Oh if wrong board to, sorry, please feel free to move it. :-)

September 5th, 2012 10:23 PM #7Expensive City and Jazz eh. 20% down lang mga nakikita ko. Mas kaya ko mataas na monthly kaysa mataas na down. Hyundai and Kia both have low down payment plans eh.

hindi naman sa nangengelam ako ha, how can you afford a P20K MA wherein you can't afford a 20% DP, so basically, you are not able to save? Or ayaw mo lang mawalan ng savings?

September 5th, 2012 10:41 PM #9A little of both. Bayad utang pa sa ibang cards, pero nakaplano na by October clear na ako sa lahat ng credit cards ko and maluwag na finances ko. Pero no time to save kasi sana by Xmas may kotse na ako kasi may long road trip kami na pinaplano ni gf. Di na kaya ng City ko yung out of town eh hehe.

That actually is scary. Just want to say what I did, just ignore me, just want to share,
Before I decided buying a Brand New Car, I save 20K a month, and see what is the corresponding effect with my life. There comes na nagkukulang yung pera on hand, so have to withdraw, until such time na hindi na lumalabas yung 20K because of increases and discipline, until dumating yung time na kaya pang dagdagan yung 20K. So there, sabi ko, enough delaying gratification, it's time to gratify! Ahaha!
