Babagsak fuel economy nyan.

November 4th, 2004 06:59 AM #3I've asked 2 nissan dealers on what oil they use on the xtrail:
1) Nissan Gallery- Caltex 15w40 diesel oil
2) Nissan Commonw- Valvoline turbo formula 15w40 API SJ/CF
Both claim these were supplied by Nissan Phil.
Guess the common factor is 15w40, mineral oil for either gas or diesel.
I've supplied Citgo 15w40 diesel oil and Conoco 10w40 Api SL, both were ok for warranty purposes. Manual actually prefers 10w30 but they don't use it.

15W-40 is the usual oil recommended for our climates.
What type of Caltex? Havoline Formula or "5 Star". Check also the API ratings of the oil (SL, SJ, etc).

If it's from Nissan, it's most likely their in-house Caltex oil (which was only made for Nissan AFAIK)... Its grade/API rating is between the cheap Caltex 5 Star and the Havoline Formula. Yung packaging niya is similar to the 5 Star can.
If thats the case, pwde na yan... you'll be changing at 5K anyway.

Just called Nissan, the free motor oil they are giving is the Caltex with 15w40 viscosity. Have 2 Service coupons for free 1 Gal. motor oil, sayang naman kung di ko magamit. Ok na ba to?
