July 8th, 2005 08:46 AM #1mga gurus, pice of advice naman dyan..
overhaul kit,piston rings,con rod bearing,main bearing..
machine shop, sleeves,grinding...

July 8th, 2005 10:09 AM #2I just had my 1987 L300 gas engined overhauled. Haven't installed it in the van yet. Its still being body repaired. But I suggest you go for overhaul. At least you know the engine is good as new. Even if you have a change engine what assurance do you have that his engine has no problems yet ? I am assuming your friend has the same make and model. So more likely it is nearing to be overhauled also. Unless the engine is from a newer model you might need to make a lot of adjustments in the engine compartment. So its much better just to have your engine overhauled and bring it to a trustworthy and competent mechanic and machine shop

Pag nag engine swap best is always to open the engine and check the internals. You'll never know unless you do this. Malay mo singaw na rin pala.
If it's cheaper to have the overhaul, go for it.

July 8th, 2005 11:39 AM #4wildthing,
bro,ang problem ko kasi sa overhaul eh yung machine shop process, they will rebore the engine block then force fit yung sleeve o liner..they have to rebore kasi may tama na yung butas..iniisip ko kasi na kapag nag-rebore then nag insert ng sleeve..magkaibang material yun hindi solid o buo...
johnart,
bro may reboring din bang ginawa sa engine mo or just parts replacements?

July 28th, 2005 06:04 PM #7suggestion lang.......pa baklas mo muna un makina mo then inspect the parts for wear.para ma estimate mo un damage.after that u can decide for engine replacement or O/H.
usualy light wear lang ang meron sa cylinder bores mo kung walang putol na piston rings.kung may putol expect mo some deep scratches sa bore surface ng engine.thats the time for reboring.kung wala naman,i suggest to renew both piston and rings para maganda and seal compression.pag piston rings lang papalitan mo,bale wala rin kc malaki na rin cgurado ang piston groove clearance ng engine mo at 15 yrs of service.
go for Gen overhaul nalang but use reliable parts.:-) :-)

July 29th, 2005 03:51 AM #8Just had a compression test completed on my engine.
Normal ba to? candidate for overhaul na ba ako? HELP!

Maybe you should start with a top overhaul first. Possibility din sa head ang problem. From there masisilip naman yung engine block kung may problema ang bores, piston rings, or pistons. Reboring and resleeving e normal overhaul process yan. As long as you get the services of a competent mechanic and machine shop. Huwag yung bara-bara kung gumawa. Dapat maingat at malinis magbuo ng makina. Just my two centavos!
