December 22nd, 2007 07:21 PM #5Tech1 was the first scan tool used by GM. Then came the Tech2. These are scan tools or diagnostic tools where you can connect to your vehicle's DLC (data Link Connector) for you to connect and communicate with your vehicle's different modules, such as below:
1. ECM - Engine Control Module
2. TCM - Transmission Control Moule
3. PCM - Powertrain Control Module - combination of Engine and Transmission
4. BCM - Body Control Module
5. EBCM - Electronic Brake control Module
6. EBTCM - Electronic Brake And Traction Control Module
7. SDM - Sensing and Diagnostics Modules
and so on... as of now... average of 24 modules meron ang mga GM Vehicles..
And of course pati na rin yung ibang mga Car Makers..
Dahil nga, ginagawang standard na yan ng SAE..
Different car manufacturers uses different designs of scan tool..
Im not sure pero sa toyota yata, intelligent tester yung tawag sa scan tool nila...

December 22nd, 2007 08:33 PM #7I will... At time being yang part 1 and 2 lang muna.... tatapusin ko lang yung iba.. Nasa work kasi ako ngayon...
Yup yung Cummins Insight yung sa engine, pero laptop gamit dun...
sa Cummins Power Generation naman Inpower.... laptop din...
yung service info cd tawag dun Intercept.
Pero ngayon gamit namin yung web-based na. QSOL (quickserv online) naman tawag dun..
Sa GM naman,
Tech 2 yung scan tool... yung programming software naman para sa mga modules ay TIS2000..... Tapos yung service Info ay eSI.

December 22nd, 2007 10:28 PM #10Last part... The part 4 is now served....
This is general, since OBD2 is standard to all vehicles...
This information is sufficient enough to understand how modules communicate with each other, what is the purpose of the sensor and how it affects the entire system... and how all of this are being interconnected to one another.
The OBD2 was designed for one purpose, to save our environment...
all of these electronic modules, sensors, computers... They are there in your vehicle to save mother earth from pollution.....
Hope this will help you understand how your vehicle system works, analyze a little and you can have an idea to what part is faulty whenever you feel that something is wrong on your vehicle....
