    hi all,

is it really necessary to change the timing belt idler and tensioner bearings when the timing belt is changed? i just got this 626 with 100,000 km on it and i don't know what the service history is. so, in addition to the usual stuff (spark plugs, engine oil) i also want to change the timing belt.

mazda sources sa web recommend also changing the valve head cover gasket at the same time as the timing belt. and the 2 bearings along with the timing belt. unfortunately, according to my canvassing (over the phone) this will cost a lot! e.g.

timing belt - 1800 lowest price (OEM)
    idler bearing - 1800
    tension bearing - 4650
valve head cover gasket - 1800

and wala pa diyan ang labor!
ang labas mas mahal ang gagastusin ko kesa dun sa B1 engine ni kiaDOHC sa protegetech!!

O.T. di pa rin na-a-approve ang membership request ko sa protegetech. tulong naman.. ;)

try autoplus sa banawe, pwede naman replacement ang gamitin mo, dont change the gasket kung walang leak. ask mo options regarding oem parts saka replacements sa kanila, siguro repalcement belt will cost you 800 with the same quality as oem, same with the bearings

    hi,

valve cover gasket -- is this tested with the so-called compression test? (para malaman kung kailangan nang palitan?)

does autoplus also do installation? magkano kaya aabutin ng labor? nagtanong ako sa Toyota Shaw (Pasong Tamo branch) 3500 - 4500 daw labor, wala pa yung parts.

    thanks.

imho, kung tight budget ka, u may buy a replacement for the tensioner and idler bearings. pero yung timing belt mo dapat oem na. mahirap kse maputulan ng timing belt. yung sa valve cover gasket, ok na rin yung replacement.
