    greetings.

i'd like to ask if anybody here has experience with the 05 lancer.

i used to have a '97 civic but now i chose to have a new lancer (i dunno if its a good choice either...discounted kasi sa company loan).i researched things about this model and found out that the 4G18 SOHC has only 102HP *6000rpm.

my question is this...is there any way to add some considerable numbers to its powerplant although i havent got any luck on finding performance parts for this model over the internet. any local resource will be greatly appreciated.

    thanx

just change your intake and full exhaust with after-market parts. malaking gain na siguro sa power yun. tapos tension wires tpos computer box. bka meron nyan sa autoplus and yung shop ng emperor sa araneta. (di ko lam pangalan e)

kung meron ka pa rin pera, try buying an evo 8 or 9 na. Lancer pa rin naman yun di ba?

Just pony up the extra for the MX Limited 1.8. Okay fuel consumption, and good performance (even if it IS automatic).

whoah! whoah! wait! evo 9?! that will rip-off my wallet...sana pag may pera kaso loan sa opisina yun...

kidding aside, my attention is now locked on simota intakes since i used to have them on my previous car but i dunno if it will be as productive with this model. also the spark plug wires is an issue (i went to several shops in qc and makati but they told me "wala kaming guarantee kung gagana yan sa model na yan."). the ecu's is not a problem though. infos about this is greatly appreciated...thanx guys!

also, does simota have an official website gusto ko sana makita comparison nya sa K&N kasi sabi nila mas okey pala yun (but from my own point of view "pangalan lang yun")

    tenx again

Standard A/T transmissions consume more fuel, yes, but the 1.8 MX uses a CVT. CVTs are belt driven, so the transmission mechanism is much lighter than a traditional automatic, which uses a torque converter instead of a clutch to match gears.

The reasons traditional A/Ts consume so much gas in traffic is that the torque converter is very heavy, and the weight, plus the liquid medium of tranmission fluid the torque converter swims in, drags on the engine.... thus the higher consumption.

Mitsu's CVT should be easy on gas. CVTs are usually almost as fuel efficient as manuals, and either almost as fast or just as fast (depending on the situation). Sabi nila sa Top Gear at C! that the 1.8 MX is a good drive, with decent power. Just don't ask me how durable or serviceable the CVT is... since it's brand new, it's anybody's guess.

    just my theory:
CVTs are still relatively new and belt driven, that would scare me if i were to buy a new car.

Like Timing Belts, wala itong pasabi kung kelan mapapatid...
nagkaroon kame Corolla XL 97 model...the manual says that we should replace the timing belt at 80,000kms...to our shock, bumigay ito at around 70tkms... ang laki ng gastos kasi nagpa machine shop pa kme...na-binkong mga barbula (8valves ang nasira) etc.

buti sana kung chain belt driven ang CVTs dito.

There is not much difference, but the chain belt is preferable. I'm not sure which one Mitsu uses. Nissan uses a chain belt, I think, but that's on their V8s and V6s. (makes sense, diba? Chain timing belt, chain transmission... ).

At least if a belt-driven transmission gives way, it is only the belt that is damaged, unlike in traditional transmissions, where a lot of manufactured pieces may need replacement in the case of transmission failure.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
