    you don't shift to first gear when downshifting and the car is still in motion... masisira gears ng tranny mo nyan... when negotiating a turn or humps you downshift to 2nd gear not first gear...

    unless nag full stop ka tsaka ka pa lang lipat sa first gear.

    i agree with impulzz pero if it's from a start then dapat madali lang ipasok yan. replacing the gear oil will probably help.

    wala naman clutch cable yung civic so that will not be the problem.
