Benefits: if your compression is good, you know your engine is still in good shape.
Signs: if the numbers vary wildly between cylinders, that's a sure sign of a gasket leak or a blown piston ring.
How to? Just proper maintenance, good driving habits, etcetera.
Where? Hehehe... not sure... last time I did it, it was in a backyard in Evangelista with a borrowed meter.
