July 19th, 2003 12:49 AM #1i've been switching gasoline brands for a long time now, since minor players in the industry came into play, purposely to determine if there is any appreciable difference among them ... so far i have not experienced any difference with normal driving
until recently ... with our honda city low on gas, i filled up full tank unleaded with PTT at san fernando, pampanga (near malls) ... after shopping for an hour, the car had difficulty starting and can't maintain normal idle rpm on the first several seconds, i needed to pump the gas pedal to keep it running, otherwise engine will stop. suspicious of the quality of gas, i decided to use all of it until tank is again near empty ... it took almost a week to empty and car consistently hard-starts when cold ... then i refilled with usual petron unleaded and problem is gone
now somebody else (tsikot member) had a recent similar problem with vortex gold (problem disappeared after filling with velocity) ... and there was news about bmw's experience in subic although meron denial (yata) ang bmw (i suppose to protect bmw's name, not the gas brand)
ano ba talaga ang nangyayari sa mga gasolina natin? napapabayaan na ba ang quality control nila? o meron lang yatang bulok na na-deliver sa mga gas stations?
have you guys experienced similar problem?

Ewan ko sa gasolina but I'm used to filling up my diesel at most small player or 'no name' stations (nakapila ako with the FX's and PUJ's). Wala pa naman nangyayaring hindi kanais-nais.

July 19th, 2003 03:30 AM #3Otep, nadala na ako diyan. 2x I filled up at stations na no name and a shell station during the rainy season and yung diesel ko may tubig. my mb 100 stopped running. the shell station was nice enough to shoulder everything. yung no name mahabang usapan pa. ingat ako ngayon pag biligas. i chose new stations na maski mahal or those in elevated areas

I still stick to the big three and certain gas station... The price difference can be negligeable in the long run, especially if you're sure on the fuel you're getting.
My dad and sis' car is also choosy when it comes to the fuel it gets.

price difference lang naman is around 10 centavos per liter. sa full tank magkano lang yun, wala pang P5! e tip ko lang sa gasoline boy mababa na yung P10 eh, so why risk.
psychological lng naman ang effect ng discount na yan, 10 centavos does not really make a big discount. ang dapat nila improve yung quality ng products nila.

nasubukan ko na rin yung PTT sa tarlac pero wala naman naging problema ... but that was months ago ... palagay ko lang, recently, nagkaroon ng bad batch ang dumating na gas sa subic para sa PTT and maybe other minor players (bmw incident) ... pero the vortex gold is a different case siguro kasi caltex have its refinery here ... wala pa naman akong naging problema sa caltex gold although it is not my usual gas ... petron or shell ang kadalasan gamit namin
thank you for your post kimpoy ... iiwasan ko na nga yung gas station na yun
