November 9th, 2024 01:05 AM #8I've been saying nga that after the government implemented zero taxes on HEVs and BEVs, these companies have been pocketing the money lang and only giving minimal discounts to consumers.
Compare the local price of Tesla to the MSRP in the States and the markup is like 100k - 200k only. Same thing with the Chinese stuff, same thing with the Ioniq 5N:
Model 3 Performance - P3.1M. US MSRP is 50k without the federal tax credit, or P2.95M. Difference is P150k only (5%)
Ioniq 5N = P4.25M, US MSRP 69k or P4.05M. Difference is 200k only (5%)
But the traditional brands ang layo pa din ng prices sa USD or RMB MSRP.
Camry Hybrid = P2.45M. US MSRP (SE model) = $32k or 1.87M. Difference around 580k (31%)
Lexus RZ450e = P5.228M. US MSRP (Luxury model) = $65,580 or P3.83M. Difference P1.398M (36%) -- And this is giving Lexus PH the benefit of the doubt that what they're selling is the higher-end Luxury model. If it's the Premium then the US MSRP is under $60k.
Now Tesla (and the Chinese) are going to eat their lunch.Last edited by Dr.Kamiya; November 9th, 2024 at 01:27 AM.

Tesla has a lower cost marketing structure ... you can only order online ... no sales agents ... just showroom ... price is fixed ... everyone gets the same price ... no dealer shenanigan ... Hyundai here has no market power so they need to price accordingly ...
