We really enjoyed our trip to the Czech Republic last year, and we are now planning a trip to Portugal next year. I was wondering if anyone have any recommendations for some off-the-beaten-path destinations beyond Lisbon that might be worth checking out? It would also be great to get suggestions for any local specialties, dishes or drinks we shouldn't miss while there. I think the best beers will still be from Czechia, but I am willing to try some good beers in Portugal as well. Additionally, if anyone knows of any charming medieval villages or towns they'd recommend wandering around in, I'd love to hear about those as well. Hoping to curate an amazing Portuguese adventure and appreciate any insider tips!

Cool that you've got a trip to Portugal coming up! A few places I'd recommend checking out beyond Lisbon are Sintra, Obidos, and Porto.

Sintra has amazing castles and views, totally worth a day trip. Obidos is a cute little walled town that's fun to wander around. And Porto has a totally different vibe from Lisbon - really historic and the port is delicious.

As for food, you gotta have the custard tarts and grilled sardines. And try ginjinha, the sour cherry liquor - it's like their national drink.

Hope this gives you a few more spots to hit in Portugal other than just Lisbon.

Thank you for your suggestions, *willsandwheels! Sintra has our attention because it is famous for its dreamlike and romantic vibes, featuring palaces, castles, gardens and forests. Sintra brings back memories from our last visit to Prague. We are excited to go see Obidos and Porto too. I had a good time drinking beer in Prague, but my wife is looking forward to tasting wine in Portugal . This trip we decide to use local tour guide for better experience https://gowithguide.com/portugal/sintra

Did a Portuguese Food and Wine Tour in Lisbon that took almost the whole day. Highly recommended!

If you are religious, pass by Fatima on the way to Obidos!

Thank you for your recommendation on a Portuguese Food and Wine Tour. The food and wine you posted made me want to experience it more. Yes, I am religious, and I’m going to visit Fatima. Too bad the pilgrimage will be in the month of May. Would you mind sharing the tour company that organized the food and wine tour, *Jesto?

I'm sorry I have forgotten where we got the tour from. It was almost 10 years ago.

Check the different offerings in the net. Check the reviews once you find a tour you like.

    Good luck!

It's understandable; a decade can make memories a bit fuzzy. Luckily, photos have a way of bringing those moments back to life. Thanks again!
