    dvldoc, that was a damn fast reply!! :-) I just thought i`d check, ya know, just in case. Didn`t truly expect it. Awesome. I*ll get down to the market somewhere and see if I can buy one of the above mentioned. I had something similar but on a much smaller scale. But it broke due to the force i was exerting on it whilst trying to separate the centre piece from the body. I take it that when sliding this putty spreader in, I actually push against those clips whilst levering the plastic away. So I`ll give it a shot. By the way, the Nissan Elgrand belongs to family here in Japan. It has clocked 94,000klms. It has been priced by more than 5 car dealers here. At a whopping great price of........ Drum Roll.... $0.00 !!!...haha... I can`t believe it. In Aus it would still fetch a nice $15,000.00 easy. Nothing wrong with the vehicle either. Its in tip top shape. So they are going to give it away to other family who need a bigger car here. Nice.

    Yes, the spatula worked. Got the face plate off. Now have to work out how to remove the stereo\navi and DVD drive!! All three of them. They wont pull out as I would have expected. It feels like whatever they connect to (Wires) at the back are just very short. I couldn`t get my hand inside either to disconnect them. I`ll try removing the bottom part of the skirting below the stereos and see if I can come from underneath and behind. Thanks

    I am not surprised it was free, it become excessively expensive to own vehicles over 7 years old in Japan, that's why they export so many vehicles.

    Hopefully it's not a injection pump issue or a fuel pump issue. It's best to take it to a diesel mechanic shop to get that tested.

    You also might want to check to see if the AC compressors clutch is not locking up and causing the engine to shut down.

    After much testing and driving, it seems the advice worked! The engine does not shut down anymore while driving with aircon on. It does shut down, however, during fresh engine start in which we have to wait for a while until the engine heats up. We normally push the "HEATER" button initially and aircon is OFF during the first gear change. Also, we noticed that the Aircon is much colder now compared before. I guess with all the procedure we did, it took a while for the result to kick-in.

    All that is left for us to do is to change the Airflow Filter with the mushroom type air filter attached to an elbow tube. (saw this on the thread) Problem is we cant find the adaptor. We also did the 2T oil advice and it did generated a favorable result.

    Anyways, our deepest gratitude and thank you so much for your help.

    If you can't find the adapter which is going to be very hard there, You can simply get one made, I posted it a while back but so you don't have to back search here are the measurements.

    The other easy way to do it is take off your MAF sensor trace the pattern on a thick grade paper and have a metal shop make you one. All you need is a 3" piece of pipe welded to it. Any shop that can weld can do this for you for pretty cheap.

    Hi there dvldoc,
    Iv`e trawled through your thread to see if I could avoid throwing up question after question but am at a loss. I cannot seem to find a way to remove the lower skirting directly under the stereo/navi chassis area. Ive found two clips at the top just below the edge of the radio/navi chasis which I can only surmise is part of the restraint. As for any other clips I have no idea where they might be or how to get to them. I have been thinking that perhaps the glove box and also the area under the steering column would have to be removed to reveal any hidden clips or screws. But am I starting to pull apart items that have no relation to the issue? How hard can it be just to remove a damn stereo unit!? ...lol...
    The chassis that holds the offending items has four screws holding it in place. The front two are removed. The rear ones I cannot get to because of the dash body is in the way. I cannot pull the wires off of any of the units either as there is no room to get to them.

    I have photos but nowhere to load them so could not show you what I meant.
    Any help on this seemingly basic process is greatly appreciated.

    Pag ganito ang unit mo dapat marami kang alam sa sasakyan or mekaniko ka, lahat yata ng concern meron ito. kung makikita mo ang loob ng dashboard nito madidismaya ka, converted kasi ang dumi tignan and nakatali ng kawad ang mga relay, wire kahit fluid line ng break nakatali ng kawad susmaryosep..delikado pa dito pag di maayos ang convert sa steering mechanism. Ideal ito sa mga mekaniko or sa mga my talyer para maayos nila, and mababa ang resale value nito..

    It should be just the bolts that hold the radio in place, The wire harness might be very tight in the back of the radio keeping you from pulling it out. You also need to remove the Aircon unit to undo the wire harness from the radio and I think this will let you get it out easily. I can get my radio out in about 5 minutes.

    I`ll give it another go. Getting at those connectors that attach to the rear of the `Stereo/Aircon` unit is extremely difficult. Almost impossible to get two fingers onto the attachments on the rear of that unit let alone trying to pull them off.
    The two lower units`navi and dvd` are screwed in with two screws on both sides of the mounting chassis. There were actually four screws holding the mounting chassis in place. I have a feeling that these units may not be original as the do not look like the ones in your posted pics at all. Wish me luck on this.
