November 22nd, 2014 09:09 PM #201Hi to all, I'm an owner of a 2.0 X-trail T32 and would like to share my real world experience;
Regarding the engine, in all honesty I can't see the point of others claiming that the car is underpowered, maybe they drive 250HP cars everyday to be able to say that? I came from a 2012 1.8 Hyundai Elantra with 150HP and 180NM of torque, and I must say that the acceleration is really different. Driving the x-trail feels more comfortable because of linear acceleration compared to the "head snapping" acceleration of the Elantra. I don't know why it seems to me that the X-trail felt lighter, maybe because of the CVT, you don't have to rev up much. Overtaking is no problem at all unless you are trying to overtake at 140Km/h. The X-trail is not a Forester XT. Once you embrace that idea, I bet you won't be saying that its underpowered. Not everything in the brochure translates to real world experience, because you see low numbers for power ratings, does not mean its underpowered, there are many things to consider like transmission and weight.
The third row seats, some also say that it is impossible or "bone breaking" to sit in the third row, again I have to strongly disagree, my brother and I tested it, He adjusted the first and second row seats to his bearable knee room, while I sit at the third row, I wouldn't say that its generous but its comfortable, I don't recommend sitting there during your trips to baguio, but for around metro manila, it is absolutely no problem. (I'm standing 5'8", my brother is 5'10").
Fuel consumption, well I don't know yet since the car traveled only about 150KM so far. I gassed up 1,500 last sunday and the fuel display was on 1/2, drove everyday except coding day, from makati to taft, manila, as of this time its on the 1/4 mark. Thats all I can say for now. I will update you guys after 1000KM break in. (Yes the break in period is stated in the user manual).
Well, i guess that's about it, A/C is good, space is good, ride and handling excellent, more on the stiff side, no bouncy feel like on the big asian SUVs. If you will ask me if there is anything I didn't like? None. Again, this is from a guy coming from a sub 1M sedan, I think if you compare the X-trail to others in its price range, it is very hard to fault the X-trail T32. Unless you have brand loyalty of course.

Thanks for the review. Did you check your tire pressure? The units come with 45psi+ on them from the factory. I'm curious how braking performance is on the Goodyear fuel saving tires. It's a bit of an ask to really brake test the test drive units.

You're probably right, re: seats being memory foam. It doesn't seem to work as well when covered in leather. I wouldn't mind "zero gravity" shoe insoles.
It's the last week of November, still no 4x4.
