Rossi turns heads with special edition Mugello helmet
Saturday, 31 May 2008
In keeping with tradition, MotoGP star Valentino Rossi showed off a distinctive new helmet design in free practice at his home Grand Prix at Mugello on Saturday morning.
Fiat Yamaha´s Italian idol Valentino Rossi entertained the crowd with the unveiling of an eye-catching special edition Mugello helmet in the MotoGP Saturday morning free practice session, as has become the custom on his home race weekend.
Rossi´s Aldo Drudi-designed AGV helmet features a picture of his own face, displaying a highly excited expression, which the five-time premier class title-winner believes can provide his army of fans with an idea of how it feels to ride the Yamaha M1 around the undulating Mugello circuit at speeds in excess of 320 kh/h.
The current MotoGP standings leader hopes the helmet will bring him luck as he seeks to secure a seventh successive Mugello win in front of his adoring fans in the Tuscan hills on Sunday, to extend his title advantage and build on the back of his recent victories in China and France.

Hahaha... astig!
I'm happy for Rossi... he's finally back on a competitive bike after a disastrous 2007 season. I'm going to love this year's MotoGP!

valentino just upped his previous record: he now has seven consecutive hometown wins in the bag.
you're right, niky. it's great to have rossi on a good bike again. after years of rossi domination, the 2006 and 2007 champions were just too bland in comparison.
btw, his slowdown lap was uncharacteristically gimmick-free.
as for his helmet, maganda ang buena mano. expect a lot of rossi fanbois to snap up a lot of lids should they come out of production.

Although 2007 was a bummer and really frustrating, watching Rossi in action is never dull... even with an uncompetitive bike, his late-in-the-race charges from the back of the pack are truly awesome to behold. Seems nobody can extract more performance over the course of the race from their tires than Valentino.
