February 6th, 2009 12:15 PM #111mag cherry QQ nalang hehehehe...honestly i was also a biker before, nag give up lang ako kase sirain ang lintek nabili kong Brand new na Sym Jet Euro X e, kaya nag kotse na ako...

What is the root cause of undisciplined drivers? Tolerance! If the authorities do their job in implementing the existing law, there really is no need to create new ones.
Try pulling those undisciplined drivers out of the country and let them drive in the US. Ibalik mo sa pinas and they'll be back in their old ways. Why? Coz they know they can get away with it. Isang tupi lang ng P200 pag may huli and they're again scot free.
Why give the ax to the riding community when it should be the law enforcers who deserve it? From the EURO generals down to the common kotong cop. And don't give me the excuse na there are more good cops that the rotten apples coz they also have a responsibility of policing themselves. Those good cops are just too chicken when it comes to cleaning their own ranks. Camaraderie? B*llsh*t!

i think the problem here isn't really on whether juan dela cruz is riding a big bike or the banned less than 400 cc motorcycle. corruption studies based on statistics show that when there is too much regulation on every activity of juan dela cruz, it furnishes pedro rodriguez with much leeway wherein he can abuse his discretion. when discretion is abused and pedro has the sole authority to regulate an activity and has the final say on how to implement a certain simple guideline, then there is a good breeding place for corruption.
what i am saying is, why do we need to make a distinction when there ought to be none?
on the issue of exempting the big bike riders on the sole premise that they also have cars, "they are responsible because they were able to buy those expensive harleys", is a bit misplaced. to me, it appears that those who earn less and can't afford to buy big bikes are unruly just because they are poor? may mga mayayaman din naman na walang breeding ah! may mga mayayaman din naman na mamamatay tao...ang punto de vista ko lang po dito, kapag ganyan ang magiging panuntunan natin, napaka multiple standards po and it's not even high po. it's like telling every juan dela cruz na, dude, dahil poor ka, wala kang karapatan sa kalsada...it's rubbing salt onto his gaping wound po. sana hindi ganun. dahil maraming mga mahihirap na lumalaban dahil may mga mayayaman na powerful na abusado po. kasi kapag ganun ang pagtingin natin sa mahihirap, ano pa ang maging silbi natin when we have the capacity to give back to the society who have welcome us with kindness for countless times and that same society has been remised with the poor. sana po, in our own little way we can help tilt the edge of the scale to somehow maintain a social equilibrium. just my sentimental two cents po.Last edited by ab_initio; February 9th, 2009 at 06:50 PM.

February 11th, 2009 07:45 AM #116Hear hear.
Been a rider myself. I quit for my own good. Nothing can make a motorcycle safe to ride. Well, unless you own a private highway with a very smooth pavement and with no other vehicles. And if you are conscious of the dangers of riding a motorcycle.
Not even owning a big bike can prevent a rider from being stupid! I see 400cc, and mostly 600cc-up bikes along the NLEX going all over the place. And I mean through every lane...I hope they die soon to lessen traffic hazards.
"Pag nakasakay ka sa motor, isang paa mo nakaapak sa hukay." - experienced riders
ps Ginigitgit ko din mga MC rider pag alam kong wala sila sa lugar. Pag nasagasaan kasi sila ako pa ang may kasalanan.

bro, wag naman ganito...it's not good karma...though i agree with you in some of the points you raised.
i'm not saying angel ako pag dating sa experience ko sa mga mc riders, sa tamang diskarte lang ako nag papa-pansin sa kanila
remember our cars are more bigger and powerful than most of these mc's...its a powerful statement when a 1000kg plus car is tailgating your motor at 30kms, then 40kms up to 60kms then 80kms along the open road and you don't know what to do, until you piss your self not knowing where to go next...or on another scenario suddenly the 1000kg plus car your motor just cut 1 minute ago suddenly cuts you off wedges you in between him and a truck or a smokey old diesel bus in traffick...trust me that mc rider won't cut your car off again during your travels
oops sorry did i say bad karma...

May 2nd, 2009 02:57 PM #118I've been riding my GS 850G on Southern California freeways since 1981 and have only seen one motorcyclist crash and that was due to his front flat tire. That's not to say I haven't seen any stupid motorcyclists here, but we've never had a lawmaker try to ban motorcycles from the freeways.
I've read all the replies to this thread and it seems to me that you have a lot of lousy motorcycle riders there, and an equal, if not greater number of terrible cage drivers.
When my wife and I move there by the end of 2010, I plan on buying a big motorcycle since I've read the taxes to import mine would be prohibitive, but I don't think I want to ride or live around Manila after reading the replies here...some of you want to see motorcyclists DIE! So please advise me on the best area to live for enjoyable and relaxed motorcycling; Cavite, or La Union? I do like to ride fast, but I don't want to have an angry cage driver trying to kill me!
Thanks.

OT : Wow Sir, gawain mo ba talaga yan? Cool head lang if you are driving because not all the time eh kasalanan ng nagmomotor ang gumitgit. These things happen.
On topic. Laws regarding motorcycle use is not just an easy thing to impose here in the Phil. It may not apply to other highly urbanized cities Highways. One thing for sure....If the existing laws are imposed properly, no new laws will be needed. Peace
