September 2nd, 2009 05:28 PM #1Mga experts/sirs, newbie ako. May kalawang sa bubong ng 97 Honda Civic. I'm planning the whole car pahilamos. My dilemna is: Sabi ng isang carshop, kailangan daw i-cut out and replace metals sheet and use acytelene/welding bago i-prep and hilamos. But according to other shops, hindi daw ginagalaw ang bubong bec if cut out, there is a tendency umalon ang bubong when repainted. kailangan daw makapal na primer. My scare is baka lumabas ang kalawang again with this.
The rust is basically spots forming a line siguro ka linya ng beam ng roof. What can you guys reco? Pls. Tnks.

You'll only need to cut the old rusted metal if the metal is badly rusted through. If it is just surface rust, you can just have it cleaned and anti-rust chemical applied to prevent future rust from happening.
If the rust is deeper, you might be better off opting for a roof cut to replace your current roof. Cut & welding done in sections on the roof can be very difficult to make it "flat" against because there is a slight curve that have to be followed.

I sold that car na this year.
I've read from some of the threads na sakit nga daw yung ng mga honda cars, may particular time period yata ang afflicted with this problem.
I've also read somewhere that Honda Cars is selling an aluminum roof for 11k, kasama na yata repainting.
I can't remember the particulars, nadaanan ko lang dati when I was having the car repaired, kaya lang we just decided to sell it.
