hi guys..im driving a lancer EL 1989 , my friend's dad is selling his galant to me..1992 model ss - automatic transmission...
can u tell me pls kung gaano ba talaga ang konsumo ng galant, malaki ba talaga ang difference...
i really love the interior of the galant, matagal ko ng gusto na magkaroon nito...ngayon naman natatakot ako sa maintenance at gasoline consumption..
any tips on maintenance and consumption...

    thanks!!!

generally 'matics are easy to maintain as long as you follow the PMS

make sure your friend has the complete maintenance history available so you know what to check/replace

    pay close attention to:
-tune up and oil change intervals
    -replacement of ATF
-cooling system (rad, hoses, coolant, fan belts,)
-electrical charging system (can't jump start a 'matic-battery life maximized if your charging unit is healthy...

'92 SS 'matic ave. mileage city driving 7km/l
    10km/l long drives

what is the galant model your getting ? does it have the almost same shape as your singkit lancer ? If so this model has no problem with its automatic transmission. But if its the shark model then its going to be a big pain in the wallet

Depends on the engine type. there are two variants - 1.8 and 2.0 4g63 engines. Normally the 2.0 averages 5-6 km/l on city driving and 10-12 km/l on hi-way (depends on how you maintain the car).

True enough, Galant parts are very expensive compared to compact sedans (especially if you buy in their authorize dealers like el dorado). But believed me, you never be disappointed in the performance!

i have a suspicion yung "siraing matic ng galant" is due to overheating. this is also a common problem on matic mazda 626's eh. in the case of the 626, there was a recall in the US due to this problem and it was fixed by installing an oil cooler. or, replace your ATF *religiously*. tyempo din kasi yan -- the '88-'92 626 did not have this problem, and the '96-up 626 wala na rin -- kasi nagpalit si mazda ng matic in the 93-95. they used a *ford* tranny in those years, ayun sirain. siguro ganun din yung galant...

(i would like to point out na the 626 has a lot of mitsu parts in it, like the distributor, alternator, ECU/computer box... kaya isa lang siguro pinag-kukuhanan ng mga jap carmakers yung parts nila)
