So I just came from Subic driving a 2010 Montero Sport, doing a convoy with my dad's new Fortuner V 4X2. It's been a while since I've owned a diesel SUV, coming from a 3-door Pajero Fieldmaster with a 4M40 engine. I was under the impression that these new generation CRDi engines should be very fuel efficient and in my old mind, was expecting to do around 15-18km/L doing the legal 100kph run along SCTEX.

When I got to Subic, I topped up and made my old mind computations where I came up with just a little over 10km/L. What the...???
On my run back to Manila, I was able to do 11.8km/L. Really...?

I couldn't believe it and was thinking something is seriously broken with the Monty until I checked my dad's Fortuner where the meter showed 10.8L/100km (which is pretty much 10km/L).

    Can somebody validate these figures?

    Thanks.

only way to measure accurately is by full tank method.

Hi bro. We own a 3rd gen monty and pumunta din kami recently sa Subic hati kami ng dad ko. Napansin ko nung siya nag drive sa expressway, he's around 10km/L. Nung ako, umaabot ako ng 12km/L dahil mas mahina ako umapak. I think normal lang yan bro considering na pataas din some of the ways na dinadaanan. 10km/L is pretty efficient.

Were your montys/forts fully loaded with people and cargo? and what were your average speed? Cos those also affect FC.
