    The 4th/ring finger is the least used finger which makes it the best finger to put a ring on. Lesser chance of damaging or losing the ring.

    It's the medicinal finger or magic finger in most cultures... that's why we wear the ring there. If you wanted to put the ring on the most useless finger, you'd put it on the little finger.

    I just read it somewhere in the internet, and I find it logical.

    As for the small finger, we sometimes use it to feel or touch something through small holes and the ring might get stuck if it's on the small finger.

    It may be more practical, but the real reason is more tradition than pragmatism.

    Though... from years of wearing a wedding ring... you can still scratch it a lot or catch it on things no matter what finger it is on...
