When we got married, we specifically looked for a small venue so we could limit our guests to close family & friends only. The one we chose could only fit around 150 people.

Parents tend to add their close friends/relatives to the guest list So when my mom wanted to add some more even if she was willing to pay for their food, it was physically not possible.

Not sure but 300 guests is on the low side. I've heard of a local Chinese wedding that has 800 guests. ☺ Nasa ang pao na siguro yung checks.

Remember you have the condo to pay off and it would be tough to start the married life with with eating the same stuff everyday because you cannot afford to eat outside. On the other hand, the wedding has to be memorable enough that you can still feel pride when you look at your wedding pictures or watch the video10 years or 20 years after. For practicality, try renting the gown. You wont need after the wedding unless you feel kinky and have her put it on during honeymoon night. For the ring, make sure it is quality as it is a daily wear and most of the time get wet when you wash your hands. If you plan to put on a stone, make sure it is set well. You dont want to lose a stone and sulk over it everyday when you happen to glance at it. Get at least the 18K gold. The 14K tends to become dull over the years. No need to get a very expensive one as you do not intend to sell it in the future. Carved both your name on it - easier to remember who your partner is after 50 years (assuming you still have good eyesight).

The next challenge is the wedding reception. Get a buffet menu from a respectable caterer. Food would be embarassing if it runs out or tastes bad. Require an RSVP on the invitation - no partner for singles and mr and mrs for the couple. Only invite the necessary - immediate relatives, closest friends and tsikot members! Have a separate feast at your or your bride's house for the neighbors.

For the gifts, get a bridal registry service to plan your needs and wants to avoid duplicating the gifts. Plan on something useful for the condo. Cash would also be practical so you can put that on the weddin invitation if you dont find it awkward.

Finally, get a wedding planner to take care of the arrangements, programme, etc. You wouldnt have the time to think about the whole event once the wedding has started or risk collapsing during the ceremony or not eating anything on the reception because you are too worried the food will run out.

Congratulations my friend and welcome to the club where members want to get out! :D

Thanks for the tips bro. Just wanted to ask about this, if you don't mind expounding:

Get at least the 18K gold. The 14K tends to become dull over the years.
From what I've read, 14K has less gold content than 18K (58% vs 75%) which makes it more durable. Both are also rhodium coated so the shine is the same. In fact, I compared 14K and 18K white gold as well as platinum and noticed no discernable difference to the naked eye. Most literature online also suggests 14K for daily use.

Ours is 14K bro,- with prime number of "stones"... They faded after many years [am washing the vehicles at least once a week, and as necessary] but when "restored",- as good as they were, day1... We decided to safekeep them and buy a second set and have them blessed and using them now....

14K and 18K are both durable but the 18K is a bit pliant. Our first rings were 14Ks but unfortunately we were robbed at gun point. We replaced with 18ks and I like it better in terms of retaining its glitter and shine.

But aren't both plated in rhodium anyway so the final shine is more dependent in the workmanship rather than the concentration of gold per se?

Price difference of 18K and 14K is just around 10K which is also roughly the same price difference as upgrading one color rating whiter. Just need to know which one is the better option to take..
