December 9th, 2004 01:26 AM #1We were just watching the news tonight (ABS-CBN & GMA) and it appears that more volunteers are needed for the calamity projects like Sagip Kapamilya or Kapuso Foundation. They pack relief items, box them and load them for transport to affected areas.
We were just thinking if we can rally volunteer members to say, spend a few hours together and help out. A member of our family had done so with his scuba club and what they did was pack boxes and help load them ready for transport. Lean hours are after 10PM when others start leaving and so maybe it is time we can pitch in from 10PM up to about 2 AM.
What do you say guys? I can find out more details or if we have members who have contacts at the networks, it would be best to use them to find out how we can help as an Org.

why don't we try to adopt the concept of children's hour? wherein you donate one hour's worth of your salary.
if you are earning P50,000 / month. divide that by 20 (days) then by 8 (hours). that'll give you around P310.
so, one hour of your time can be used to hire a contractual laborer who will be able to work 8 hours.
not only would you be able to help those affected by the flood, but you also increase employment. get my drift?
am not downplaying volunterism but IMO this is a smarter way to actually help them.

December 10th, 2004 08:18 PM #6Any which way is ok for us, but sana for the volunteer work, we can gather 10 to 15 people masaya na (including partners, spouses and gf's/bf's). People can stay an hour or more, and it will be appreciated na.
We started a similar call at other clubs din, and it's also needing a good critical mass to get started...
Give more details Mazda and we will try to work out your suggestion also...

ABS CBN Sagip Kapamilya said that a group of 15 to 20 persons would be advisable para medyo masaya since the whole warehouse is so big and so full of stuff to re-pack. Older kids who can manage the job and have the time may join, as our kids will be there too.
Remember guys, it's best to give, especially during Christmas.
Many thanks for helping out.Last edited by bm5er; December 12th, 2004 at 01:38 PM.
